First time here was this past Sunday night. This is a tough venue to review. On one hand it 's everything I wanted from a NJ punk show. Small but not too small, dark, great crowd, and good people. Sound was pretty good too. Plus the price for admission was right. One the other hand I have 2 major knocks. First is their sound guy that night was having a rough night. Now I don 't know if that comes down to him or the bands but during the band I went to see their guitar kept cutting in and out. It definitely hurt the flow of their performance. I hate to write this because I used to love this place, but my recent experience on 3/17/23 was disappointing. The bartender I encountered was an unpleasant older man who was rude, evasive, bossy, and short-tempered. When I ordered my drink, he claimed they didn’t have the ingredients I requested. Rather than offering suggestions, he just shouted at me to tell him what I wanted. When I inquired about other options for mixing, he simply told me no and continued to yell at me to hurry up. As a waitress myself, I can appreciate the challenges of the job, but this man did not deserve a tip—or even to be in that role. His negative attitude completely ruined our evening, and it took forever to get...
I attended a performance by Uncle Floyd, and it was absolutely fantastic. However, the food and drinks unfortunately didn't live up to the same quality. I sampled the wings, which were decent, but the burger and fries were quite bland and clearly had been kept under heat lamps for too long. I ordered a cola that had an unpleasant taste, so I decided to switch to a Malibu Bay Breeze—definitely a mistake. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.
I wanted to love it. But sadly the food was horrific. They were out of items even though the menu is small and we got there when the doors opened. They rationed ketchup, which was needed due to the terrible food. All that aside, I couldn't wait for the live performance. Sadly the sound system was abysmal, drowning out the lovely singer with instruments way too loud. I gave it an extra star because they overpoured the wine which was appreciated.

Last night's show showcased Sunny Sweeney, an exceptionally talented singer-songwriter from Texas, backed by a spirited four-piece band that captivated a sold-out audience of eager fans. I really hope she returns to the Stanhope House; I would love to see her perform again! The welcoming staff contributes to a delightful experience, and I'm excited to see this iconic roadhouse thriving once more. I can't wait for more shows in the future!
When shows were poppin in the early 2ks, it was business as usual, get one headliner and make 3 bands sell tickets to pay for it. Now they have an even less stellar version of its former self, selling mediocre shows with same awful sound, pretentious too cool staff, and lame food. Go elsewhere, lot of local pubs having great bands with no cover (yes it 's possible). No one answers the phone or emails either. Just no.
The older bartender always appears to be inebriated and in a foul mood. I think the Stanhope House should think about letting him go. He was clearly upset and even started throwing things behind the bar. Nevertheless, the Milo Z Funk Band was amazing, and I had a wonderful time despite the bartender's poor service. Service: 1, Atmosphere: 4.
I had a really disappointing experience with the bartender, who was an unfriendly older gentleman. The service was subpar, the atmosphere was lacking, and the drinks were weak. I would suggest trying a different place. It's a shame because this restaurant used to be fantastic, but those days are clearly behind it.

I really love the location; it's a fantastic venue. It would be awesome if the owner allowed The Metal Summit to host a rock show there.
