We were in Europe for a couple of months, sometimes hotelling, sometimes bike/camping. And then all of a sudden we had to fly into NYC, beg for a rental car, get to Albany for a funeral, and then rush back to the airport first thing early next morning. Nowhere to get coffee on I-87 before 6 AM, and then we cross into Jersey and find ourselves here. It's hard for a manager to personalize a starbucks. Everyone is different, like snowflakes, but in large numbers there's a sameness, just like snowflakes. Read politics into that if you want, I don't care. This owner/manager has a little display by the milk with the story of his life and his store, and it made our day. This place is no Cafe Central or Brasserie Lipp, but next time I'm on the northern reaches of NJ-17 in the morning, I'll stop here on good ol' Franklin Turnpike, not too far from the closed-down auto plant.
