We came to Sugardough because the Breakfast Club nearby was heaving with people- and I am so glad we did. The waitress was so charming and friendly, and made sure we had everything we asked for. She was honest about which dishes were her recommended, which was a breath of fresh air for food service, and her recommendations were so good! Noting that we were a bit fragile (translation: incredibly hungover), she kept us topped up with water and joked with us, and even gifted my friend a croissant on her own dime after he didn't order anything! Avoid. Had breakfast here and overpriced for what amounts to two eggs scrambled, four mushrooms and two slices of un-toasted toast. Beats me how the chef thinks this is acceptable when the dish cost 12.00. Husbands food as small as a starter for about 14.00. Hidden 10% service charge added to the bill. No bill given, just have to go to till to pay and told what you owe. I queried as didn't seem right only to be told there is a service charge. Beware, what a scam.
We were looking for somewhere in Brighton where we could get a decent cup of tea and a cake and we found it at Sugardough. The was a warm welcome and friendly service. The tea was served in lovely vintage tea pots with individual tea strainers and we tried the carrot cake, which was superb. Lovely moist cake made fresh that day, absolutely delicious. This is a great find and definitely somewhere for a pit stop next time we are in Brighton.
I just wanted to grab a coffee and have a seat, but the staff made it clear that it wasn't allowed. When we asked to sit down, we overheard one staff member saying, "Why can't people JUST WAIT." The staff member wearing a beanie was one of the rudest hospitality workers I've ever encountered, eating a sandwich from another place while talking to customers with an air of arrogance.

The restaurant is just okay, with friendly staff and a good location. However, it is severely overpriced. Two people getting a light meal and drinks should not cost £44. There are other options in the area that offer much better value.
Always wanted to eat cake here. This week I did. Loved the cake (hubby not so keen so I ate his too... its a hard life). Sadly the Chocolate milk was disappointing so not a full five stars. Staff were fabulous. Very friendly.
The restaurant was very welcoming! The selection of food was excellent, with options like cod croquettes, limoncello, and cake available for breakfast. Everything was delicious! I can't wait to come back.
We had already chanced upon the Sugardough shop and bakery the day before and so know we were in for a quality treat. Great cake and coffee. Impressive quality. Nice staff. I’m in love!

Cosy cafe, enjoyed a tasty breakfast croissant- bacon, egg black pudding with a nice latte in a glass. Reasonable prices friendly staff.
Service was very slow. Table was not checked for cleanliness and was not clean. Poor service and very expensive. Will not go back.
