Swagath Plaza opened in March of 2019 in the Military Circle area of Norfolk, which has become well known for its concentration of Indian restaurants. Three others are Nawab, Biryani Hub, and Tamarind, all in walking distance from each other. The building houses an Indian restaurant, an Indian grocery store, and a banquet hall, all under one roof with approximately 14,000 square feet. This review is for its restaurant only. First time here and I experienced their buffet. I enjoy Indian food a lot! But it's been a while since I've had Indian food. They had a good variety of dishes and this place in particular had more options I felt, for vegetarians as well as for carnivores. I was able to taste other dishes I had never seen at other Indian restaurants, so that was a treat in itself! Unfortunately, I didn't take note of what they were but they were all delicious! Took my hubby to Sunday buffet lunch here and it was delicious. They have so many options to try on their buffet. I had Dosa for the first time and I am a fan. Will definitely get that again. I wish I could tell what all that I had these are the ones I remember Tandoori chicken, Tikka masala, a paneer dish, naan, fruit salad and some kind of puff soaked in honey. I loved everything I ate. This would be a great way to try Indian food with all the different options in the buffet. I am looking forward to go back again and try more things.
While traveling stopped in. Menu is only via a QR code so I asked what vegan options they had. Cashier went to the back and then listed 4 options for me. I ordered Bhendi Masala (okra). Cashier asked my spice level, then he clarified- did I want to give it in American spice or Indian spice. I KNEW this place would be good!!! I said American hot but Indian medium. When we entered it was a big dining area!! There are lot of variety to order from, we first started with cauliflower 65 and aloo tikki, really tasty. We loved cauliflower 65 so much we ended up ordering twice. Nice n spicy. Aloo tikki chat also was really yumm. Then we tried masala dosa must say was very good!! If you are in Norfolk area give this place a try and you would not be disappointed.. they also have lunch buffet which we did not try but reviews look good!!
I do not recommend. Just rude service and the buffet looks no where the same as the facebook pictures.It was our 1st time and no explanation of how to get our drinks or anything.(We asked a young man and there is a fountain drink area in the back and you get it yourself) The Lady just slapped napkins down and walked away. Food was average not worth $60 for 3 ppl. When leaving we said Goodbye as a courtesy and the lady ignored us.No worries my dear we won't be back!
I had given up on Indian food in the vb/norfolk area until I tried Swagath. Gosh, this food oozes with love and quality. The chicken is so tender and the gravies are Full of whole spices and recognizable ingredients. This is food for the soul. Please, if you are looking for REAL Indian food, try them. Both times I have had it delivered. I can’t imagine how great it would be in person.
There are a lot of options for dinner, lunch, and breakfast with amazing flavors at this restaurant. I really enjoyed the place, the atmosphere is great, and the service is fast. Prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are perfect. I recommend checking out the attached photos, as I loved the food. There is also an Indian grocery store next door. I got a masala cheese dosa with a masala chai and it was delicious. $17 before tip, came with 3 sauces not shown). I'm making this my regular stop for lunch dosa lol, it was really good. The buffet looked super tasty and smelled amazing, but unfortunately I was only there for take out : I will be coming back to try the full buffet.
