I was treated very rudely by two adult women working here over the span of maybe 10 minutes. A week before Valentine's, but not busy, not crowded. With a cast on one arm, I approached one of the front counters with a few things in my one good hand. I set them on a spot out of the way from the main action. I asked if I could please rest my candy here while I shopped some more. The woman behind the counter said no, that we don't like customers to put things here. I said I understood but that I only had one arm to use, showing her my cast, and that I couldn't carry much. She gave me a sour look and turned her back on me. After looking around for a few minutes, I noticed an open staircase in the middle of the store. I got halfway up and could see there was no merchandise up there, but a cooking studio. As I turned back around, someone was shouting at me. A different woman behind another counter was literally yelling at me, that I couldn't go up there. Her expression and tone were not kind and I felt like a kid being scolded. The stairway was not clearly marked as private, off-limits etc. What was the big deal? It wasn't an enclosed staircase, but open to the rest of the store. If you don't want people going up there, rope it off. At the very least, don't reprimand people for wandering up. I'm a petite, middle-aged female, with one arm in a cast, hardly someone about to cause a ruckus. I left without buying a thing. I'm a psychologist and understand the level of stress in the world right now. A candy shop, however, is the last place I expect to leave frustrated and disappointed by a lack of empathy, respect and basic kindness. Please be sweeter!

Disgusted does not begin to describe my feelings for this establishment. You do not even deserve one star. Today was the first and last time I will go there. I needed to get some last minute goodies for my daughter’s preschool teachers. A local mom’s Facebook group suggested this store.I popped in this afternoon and while shopping, there was a toddler having a moment, as all toddlers do. The woman who worked there approached the mother of the crying child and to my surprise, began berating this woman who clearly was in need of compassion in that moment. The worker was ripping her apart as a mother.As if this wasn’t bad enough, the worker then began to use profanity towards the mother of the child because the mother began to defend herself. It’s the holidays and we are all struggling to accomplish it all.I am the mother of a child with behavioral issues and I have had my own difficulties in public with insensitive and cruel people. There were no issues with this little girl other than the fact that she was having a little tantrum.Witnessing this incident and the lack of sensitivity behind it broke my heart as a parent who struggles in public at times. My child was not involved in this cruel and nasty exchange, however I can 100% guarantee I will never return to this heartless establishment as they have absolutely no tolerance for young children. I would not run the risk of someone treating me or my child the way that woman and her baby were treated today.

Was interested trying their malted milk balls since I love them. They were about as good as you get at a store like Wegmans. Wegmans charges $9 a pound. These were $22 a pound.. if you want really good malt balls go to Bromelows... $16/pound

This place is ok not great never will go there ago Denville population use to mediocrity lol This is No Lilac Chocolate and their chocolate is just as expensive I guess people can be convinced of anything via the mob

I love this store! They have phenomenal candy and fantastic gifts! Sweet Expressions is definitely one of a kind! To me, they are the number one store in New Jersey!!
