I had a Hojicha (roasted green tea) creme brûlée with sesame ice cream. The creme brûlée was particularly good, great incorporation of the hojicha flavour. From a dessert plating up perspective, pairing a soft dessert with another soft dessert (ice cream) is a slight mismatch. The ice cream was average which brings down the creme brûlée which is a shame. It 's like a pretty girl who wears too much make up or a guy that is wearing too many loud accessories. Too much! Having tried their branch at Myer centre, I was really excited to try the original branch in Runcorn. We wanted to get the sizzling matcha brownie but alas, it had sold out. No matter, we got the Creme brûlée and matcha panna cotta. The Creme brûlée was pretty delicious and I loved the caramelised sugar crust but it was a tad too cloying. The matcha panna cotta was really delicious and the bitterness of the matcha cuts through the richness of the panna cotta and ice cream. I'd definitely want to come back to try their matcha brownie. Found our seats in a crowd, and managed to clean up a table by ourselves. I had a royal Thai tea iced latte without adding sugar, and it was made and tasted the way I had expected-yum! All my 3 mates had soy custard adding toppings (Palm seeds, red beans and grass jelly). They liked their custards for the nice texture, not too sweet syrup on the side and generous portion. The 2 staff were working under pressure; focussed and fast.
Phuong Tran and I visit for dessert and coffee after dinner nearby. The small selection of desserts are not tempting so we decide to share a large Matcha Latte. <br/ <br/ Unfortunately, the beautiful Matcha Latte was served warm. I would have preferred it 10°C hotter! I still enjoyed this beverage, hence the 4/5 rating.
