If you read my articles regularly, you know I am partial to one Chinese restaurant in town. I am not saying that others are not good or that I do not enjoy their food, but I am saying that I like the way this one restaurant does business, I like the product they serve and I like their consistency. I am talking about Szechuan Chinese Restaurant in the Meadowlark Shopping Center at 6th and Garrison in Lakewood. This place is not fancy, but it is not a dive either. I couldn’t drink the “won ton” soup, it tasted more like “salt soup” to me! Just ate the wontons out of it and sent the liquid to the trash afterwards! Then I ordered the kung pao triple delight. They apparently make it with a concentrated glaze of soy sauce or something, but I had half of it Sunday night when we ate there, and half the next night and on Monday night I became all bloated up, like I’d drank the ocean or something! My weight shot up 7 lbs and I felt like I was going to explode. I was sick like that all night and it subsided today. IMO these people are putting dangerous levels of sodium in their food, possibly even levels that could kill someone! I called the health department...
Unfortunately, some customers were upset on Christmas Eve when their orders got mixed up. It would be helpful for the restaurant to have an online ordering system to prevent overbooking. However, it's important to remember that not everyone may be fluent in English or familiar with using online tools. Despite occasional challenges, the restaurant's delicious food makes it a popular choice, especially during peak times like the holidays. If you missed out this time, be sure to visit another day for some amazing American-style Chinese cuisine in the Denver area.
This restaurant is on my husband’s way home from work. We just discovered it about a year ago and have been in love with it ever since. Wait staff is courteous, the almond cookies are delicious. It is in a little strip mall so easily overlooked but not once you eat there. My favorite two dishes are Basil Shrimp and Sesame Scallops. Once you go, you will keep coming back! Food was great, service was offensive! Staff was exceptionally rude and unhelpful. One server literally pushed my husband out of her way. Never experienced this level of rudeness before and it was pretty offensive. Probably would still eat here because the food is really good just get your order for pick up!
Food is good, but on my last take-out order, they added $1.98 to the total bill. I discovered this when I checked my bank account summary on-line. I went back there, and they assured me that it would revert back to the original amount in a few days. We’ll see. I will update this review if it does not.
