When my son suggested we should try some Vietnamese food for lunch we decided to go to the best place we could think of for such cuisine- Cabramatta. Looking around the main streets for a suitable place we came upon Thanh Binh Restaurant on John Street. The large number of locals that filled the place around lunch time suggested that this was indeed a popular place among the locals- usually a good sign. The owner was very helpful when it came to choosing the items off the extensive menu. He even advised us to reduce the number of dishes as he felt it would be too much. He was right. Oh man, I love viet food and I miss it so much now that I'm out of the country so every time I'm back, Cabra is ALWAYS on the list. Never disappoints. Caught up with a friend here on a Monday night, loads of seats and fast services.<br/ <br/ Got a huge bowl of pho for $14 (ridic right, and they already say the price has gone up... and it can seriously feed two people if you aren't a huge eater. So much meat and beef balls and soup. So good on a winter's night. My friend for the rice paper rolls... looked good too. I always wish we had more people to share dishes.<br/ Don't worry, will keep coming back for more.
This restaurant is a well known institution in Cabramatta, having been around since 1995. In terms of signature dishes, it’s known for having the best sugarcane prawns wraps (which unfortunately we forgot to try) but also offers a really wide selection on its menu. The beef pho was quite good, definitely authentic, the lemongrass chicken very tasty (although maybe a bit salty), the pancakes were excellent and the rice paper rolls probably the only thing that was average. All in all though it gets full marks for the food and the super efficient service.
Had a pleasant and intimate experience dining at Thanh Binh, definitely try the glass noodles! The duck was fresh and juicy however the special rice that accompanied was a little too oily. However, the highlight was the platter of rice paper rolls which made for an immersive and exhilarating eating experience as you are given the 'platter ' of rice paper roll fillings and can fill them as you please. If I could I would rate this establishment a 6/5 as the staff there were very patient and more than happy to help!!

One of the best Vietnamese food that I’ve tried ...Had to share 4 dishes, 1. Beef pho, it was awesome and broth is fragrant and sweet from the beef bone and some aromatic, make the dish is enjoyable.2. Fried rice, it was a little lack of salt to my liking but it’s a nice dish too.3. Their signature dish, fresh roll that you assemble your self, come with rice paper roll that you have to dip in hot water before you roll it!4. Spring roll, it was delish, but a little over fried to me.Will come back for sure.
Really enjoyed Thanh Binh took visiting family who have never tried authentic Vietnamese and they enjoyed it as much my family. <br/ We had Bun Bo Hue it was great they could do a less spicy version for the kids and something with a bit more zing for the adults. We also had soft shell crab which was excellent.<br/ My visitors tried Bánh Xèo and Bún đặc biệt which they loved.<br/ Overall they do a great variety of dishes and do them all very well we will return.<br/
This place is usually quite busy, especially towards the end of the week. They offer a decent range of food to choose from. Service is ok! Price range is average. Portions are a bit small for what you pay. Food quality is pretty good. We ordered the rice paper with sugar cane shrimp, vietnamese pancake and spring rolls with vermicelli noodles. The portions are abit small for what you pay. Otherwise their service is quite efficient.
We drove up John st for a second time, packed and busy as usual. So we got a park a few shops from this restaurant and decided to get take away as the kids were sleeping.<br/ <br/ Ordered 2 broken rice specials and 1 pho special. The servings did not disappoint and we could not finish the meals. They were tasty and packed full of flavour.<br/ <br/ We will try and dine in next time.
