As ‘locals’ we used to come here at least once a week and always loved it we’ve left several reviews to this effect. But omg this place has so gone downhill with the change of owners. We had tried a couple of times to go for dinner but they were never serving that day. It appears upstairs doesn’t seem to be getting used other than for functions. So, we gave up trying and thought we’d give lunch a try instead. The first time we tried they said they weren’t doing lunches etc. Our feeling, which may be wrong, was that they weren’t serving because the place was deserted. We should have given up at that point. However, we tried again and did manage to get lunch. The menu is very poor absolutely n...

On the ground floor of The Balmoral Hotel is their nautically styled bistro with bar at the rear. The menu offers good choices with 'fish of the day 's as well as battered cod or breaded cod, with a side at £12. There are also burgers, slow-cooked brisket on ciabatta, and a host of other favourites. Starters include chilli and salt calamari, prawn cocktail on wheaten bread, which can be mains as well. Accompanying salads are nicely dressed, and sides are generous. Apart from excellent food, staff are unfailingly helpful, engaged, so create a really nice atmosphere. They also do Sunday lunches and cater for events.
I had a fantastic business dinner at this restaurant on 15th November 2022. The menu was well-balanced and the wine pairings were of good quality. The midweek special of 3 courses for £55 per person was a great deal. I ordered the almond crusted salmon, which was delicious. Adam, a young man who works there, recommended a crisp and cold Chardonnay to go with it, and it was a perfect match. I later found out that Adam is the son of James, the talented owner and head chef. We will definitely be returning just before Christmas to try their festive menu, which I'm sure will be excellent.
Had Sunday lunch last week here. We sat upstairs looking out over the Lough. The hotel was quiet which worried me slightly.Thinking why could this be!!! Truly this Hotel should be buzzing because the food, flavour and presentation was amazing and the potions were huge.Great value for money. The service was great and I couldn't of faulted a thing.Nothing is too much for the chefs..Get yourself down to this Hotel and its beautiful setting on the front shore.A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. You won't be dissappointed. Had my child's christening here on Sunday 3 March. Leanne and her team were fantastic from start to finish. Leading up to it with over 40 in the party including adults and kids Leanne was so professional and obliging. The food and service on the day was top class and the beef was out of this world. Baby Tiernan day was perfect and all the family were well fed and looked after by all the staff in the Balmoral. I would highly recommend and I will be back again in the near future.
I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant with top-notch chefs and servers. Jimmy, the owner and head chef, was outstanding. I tried the lobster in clam volute and it was incredibly creamy. Adam, the Maitre d, was fantastic and very knowledgeable about wine pairings. I have already made a reservation for early August and highly recommend this restaurant.
Had a lovely late lunch here with my partner. Shared the hot wings to start. I had the chicken stir fry and my partner had the pasta carbonara. Could not fault the food or service. The restaurant was very quiet but we found our waitress to be very attentive.
Stopped in for lunch , we had a table overlooking the Lough and though it was very quiet we had a beautiful lunch of a prawn open sandwich. Fresh and simply delicious and very reasonably priced . Réservez une table maintenant
The Belfast Telegraph has reported that the Hotel is closed, but their website is still active. Sadly, individuals who had weddings scheduled at the hotel have lost their deposits.
