Overall, I enjoy the setting and ambiance at the Beerded Bean and will come here to do homework or bring friends and family that are visiting. When I come in I always get a matcha tea, but shocked that the price is now 7 for a small matcha. And then an extra 1 for alternative milk, so my matcha was 8, plus 1 for tip so 9 total! Yikes! It is their only hot drink that is that much. The rest are around 5.50 which is reasonable. Their Carmel Valley location has matcha that is cheaper. I work in Monterey, and will get matcha’s in Monterey and Pacific Grove all throughout the week, and the most I usually pay for a small matcha is between 4.50 5.50 plus .50 1.00 for alternative milk. In fact Cafe Guarani and Captain Stokers, where I frequently visit, has a matcha that is only 4.50, Beerded Bean please consider lowering your Matcha price. I will continue to come here, but will have to change my drink up to a regular teabag, or head down the road to Starbucks for my Matcha, which I really do not want to do. : .
I was going to come in as I usually do to buy coffees for myself and family, but could not do so because a man with a puppy was inside. I have severe allergic reactions to all types of dogs and it can cause an asthma attack at moment's notice. After feeling my stomach drop and much disappointment I turned around and left. How is this not a health dept. Concern? I am disappointed that the staff isn't taking appropriate action to ensure safety for all customers. I honestly have been met with unkind remarks and unhelpful responses when I ask for help from staff, so I am hoping a review will get me more help. Many with allergies cannot share indoor spaces with animals and it's unfortunat that I didn't feel safe there. The staff receiving appropriate training on this matter with a willingness to confront pet owners would resolve the issue.
