Sadly our experience was not good ,to start with the table and seating was very uncomfortable having to perch on a small stool with no back for...over two hours is not my idea of comfort ,add to this the very long wait for the food to be delivered and when it finally arrives was definite not up to expectation created by previous reviews. I had Sea Base which was so dry it must have been in the freezer for months Others had the Sunday lunch which apparently the only decent item was the meat. dined here on Saturday night for the first time with a group of friends. I had really liked the look at the website and the menu and we were not disappointed. I have shown a nice warm reception and directly on our table. service was excellent. helpful, informed, cheerful and tolerant for all our asking and the three courses came in the right intervals. the menu was long enough to offer enough choice and short enough that it could all be cooked to order and the options were interesting without being too quirky. many thanks to the bj and would definitely recommend that we return!
It was by chance that we found ourselves in Weston on the Green on a Friday lunchtime. We haven’t been to this pub/restaurant for over a decade and it has undergone a positive transformation both in decor and menu. The staff were extremely friendly and...accommodating despite us arriving close to their last orders for lunch. The food, choices to suit all, was genuinely delicious, especially the crispy rice gnocchi in a pomodoro sauce. A very good house special wine (Sancerre). All in all, a brilliant experience and one we are likely to repeat much sooner.
The Ben Jonson hosted a 90th Birthday Party for my dad recently. It was excellent; staff were friendly and attentive, the food was delicious with well chosen house wines. We had the use of the dining room and the outside area. Everyone particularly enjoyed the...sausage rolls! Kayleigh the manager was very helpful setting it all up. I grew up in the village, so have known the pub through many owners, it is really lovely to see it revitalised and a part of village life again!

haloumi was amazing, but half of it would have been more than enough. Barnsley-Cop was beautiful, drilling over boiled, but acceptable, a little done on the cook bits (purée carrot bit of a blob on the plate, the same goes for the roasted...garlic and unnecessary mandel discs). the best but was the chocolate brew that was amazing! gooey, nutty double chocolate and sooo-yummy! all in all, a beautiful meal.
Lovely find. Had a really nice meal, they really need to hold on to their Chef. Excellent quality food. The waitress was friendly, welcoming and very helpful, if a little over worked at times. We would love to go back and try more of the...menu.
had a delicious meal in ben johnson, good eating and excellent service. Smiley staff created an inviting, entertaining atmosphere and the menu was interesting and inclusive, their cod cake was mainly spectacular! will definitely go back!
Staff were friendly! We ended up making tapas from the starters and had 4 dishes between the two of us and it was delicious! 100 percent recommend! It was decorated lovely!

Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday. Great garden, great service and very good food. A nice quiet spot for lunch.
they called to the north to the top notch food (burger and gnocchi). beautiful pub worth a visit.
