when we waited for a new kocher home to be installed, we decided to go for Sunday dinner. a very disappointing experience, unfortunately. today at 12.30 a.m. we have booked a table for lunch, Sunday first impression well, nicely decorated pub, most of the employees have to welcome. 45 minutes before accepting our food (roasts,) cut in the 2 hours time slot we were allowed. I thought, however, that would be a good sign that eating could be good. I went to The Better Half for lunch last Sunday with my family. The food was delicious and plenty of it. I had the pork belly which was succulent with lovely crispy crackling. Others had the lamb and beef which were equally impressive. The roast...potatoes and rest of the vegetables were perfectly cooked. We also ordered the cauliflower cheese as an extra and I’m so glad we did as it was one of the best I’ve had. Although full we also went for dessert. We spent our Saturday evening there, the service was very friendly and the food was amazing! I ordered the cod with caper sauce and vegetables, the fish was perfect, and the vegetables were the best I have ever had! Definitely going back soon to try...more, the menu was quite big with a choice of many vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Also, the atmosphere of the pub is very welcoming and friendly, nice people all together.
Outstanding Roast, we had the beef, chicken supreme and a wellington. All tasted excellent, freshly prepared, succulent meats and tasty veg. Staff always so friendly and attentive. Manager was quick to reply and book us in. Local to Hove and would always visit here with...family and friend, thoroughly recommend to anyone personally rate one of the best roasts hove way. Chef came out and was a good laugh, very friendly!
I go to the Better Half when I can as it has fabulous beer and very friendly attentive staff. Whether sitting at the bar or at a table, there for drinks or a bite to eat, the staff are regularly round to check on...things. We've just got back from having a lovely Sunday lunch that really hit the spot. It is a reliable, easy going and welcoming place. It's why I keep going back! Thank you to the team.
amazing eating and beautiful staff. visited for a Sunday and roast it was exceptional, 2 vegan options and many meat options also. excellent choice of the side and delicious sticky toffee pudding. really courteous and polite, the staff came and gave us tasty and water. for our dog. very friendly chef came to say hello and to check that we enjoy the food! will soon again, great atmosphere!

Had the pan fried cod in a caper sauce with boiled baby potatoes and mixed green veg. Not only was everything really tasty but also cooked to perfection. All the staff are friendly and go the extra mile to be helpful and make you feel...special.
