Anyone who says perfection doesn’t exist has clearly never set foot in The Black Pearl. There simply aren’t enough superlatives in the English language to describe my family’s fine dining experience at this Dunedin diamond last night! The tasteful and cosy decor, uber comfortable booths and exquisite playlist set the stage for the extraordinary culinary experience that was to come. Every course was outstanding and if saddled with the unenviable task of singling out a handful of dishes it would be the escargot, the maple glazed pork belly, the Chilean sea bass Lyonnaise and the maple leaf farms duckling. Oh my goodness, I love great food and this place is fantastic. Go to Berns if you must, but you will miss out. John was our waiter and he was amazing. I like a nice pinot noir and he got the sommelier to find me an amazing by the glass bottle. The menu, while not extensive, had a variety of delicitasant experiences for all. The lobster risotto is out of this world. The pork belly, so tender it slides off the cut of your fork. I will be back.....maybe tomorrow. All around amazing experience thank you for one of the best meals I've had in a long time.
Food was delicious. They have 11 tables, so be sure to make a reservation. Only one chef, and he makes the food to order. The dining experience was about 2.5 hours. I like when restaurants give you time to enjoy the meal and chat with the people you’re dining with, so they did good on that end. Our waiter was Sean. He’s so polite and knows everything about each dish. We each stuck to water for the night, no alcohol and it was about $90 per person after taxes and tip. I would eat here again.
A special treat for my wife's birthday. Service was great, food exceptional, petite portions made eating multiple courses possible. My only complaint was being served a glass of dregs filled wine from the very helpful sommelier. I felt that he expected us to buy a bottle and when we didn't dumped the tail end of a bottle into my glass.

I'm very happy with this place. Extremely engaging attentive staff with comfortable atmosphere. Timed coursing of meals was perfect. If you can't decide on an entree, get the bolognese(see pic). There's really good dessert wine, BTG. For dessert, the licorice ice cream paired with the Penfolds port. That's a perfect ending.
We went here for a birthday celebration and it was the best food I have had for the price in a while. The service was great and very timely. The white chocolate lava cake was to die for! Definitely a must try. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be coming back for more special occasions.
Amazing experience at The Black Perl! The atmosphere was modern and lively, and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared. Highly recommended for a special night out! Rating: 5/5 stars
What a hidden jewel!! Everyone went above and beyond to make our dinner experience amazing! We were blown away by how good the food is! Sean was very helpful from start to finish! Totally worth the drive from St. Pete. Can't wait to go back!

One of the best in the Bay. Dan S took great care of us and recommended some delicious wines. The duckling entree was the highlight however the fosters banana desert is the dish I'd recommend as a must have.
