Pre-theatre meal with friends, so this was near to where we needed to be. Having walked past on previous occasions, we decided to give the Blackburn Arms a go. We weren't disappointed. There was an excellent range of drinks available and the food was too. I had the Rib-eye steak done rare and it was the best I'd had for a while, Most places will give you medium rare when you ask for rare, but they got it right here! Service was excellent; friendly and quick, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. It helped that the weather was playing nice, too. Would go again.
This place has been on my food radar for a year or so. I took a day off work to call in during the week . When you claim to be Gastropub you set a high bar. The bar was met. It's good to see a reasonably limited menu. I calling in for lunch and went for a sandwich and soup for £9. It was great value and the quality was top!!!!! I'm glad I had dessert. The sticky toffee pudding was superb. The pub it's self is well decerayed and the bar staff very friendly with great service. This place is a gem.
We were shown to our room at the side of the pub,via a separate entrance by a person working in the bar, and were given a key so we could let ourselves in after the concert. The room was pleasant and clean. The location was perfect. Just around the corner from the Philamonic Hall where the concert was held. We had food in the gastropub pub which was delicious. All the staff I the pub were friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed our stay.
Absolutely shocking accomodation, the only saving grace was that the bed was comfy. The free WiFi never worked. The TV had no signal. The shower was broken. The window never stayed open, so had to use a glass. There was a loud buzzing all night. The tap was all lose and had the danger of falling off. Not a good experience.

This pub is fantastic, conveniently located close to town. The staff are brilliant and could easily star in a sitcom. There is always filming happening in the nearby streets, with popular shows like Peaky Blinders, Foyle's War, Victoria, Lazarus, Funny Woman, and The Ipcress File being filmed in the area.
I only visited the pub, but it was really nice. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. It's conveniently located near the city center - close enough to walk there, but far enough away to avoid the noisy central areas.
Excellent fish and chips!! Shepherd’s pie tastes nice (even though the presentation wasn’t the best) Worth the visit. I’m pretending to come back for further visits!
The best and most authentic food ive had in the UK so far! Great prices and good quality.
