As a solo business traveller, I spend a lot of nights eating alone in restaurants. This means I have plenty of opportunities to experience and observe a pub/restaraunts offering. Whether eating alone, as a couple or as a party, I would THROUGHLY RECOMMEND The Blue Stoops for a meal/night out. The building is presented beautifully, with twinkling lights on the oak beams, accentuating the low ceilings and architecture. Terrible experience. I first visited this restaurant in July and the food and service were amazing. However, on a recent visit for a friend's birthday, everything was terrible. I gave them another chance today with a group of 7, but it was equally as bad. The place was empty so they can't blame it on being busy. The waiter said he would give us some time to decide on our food, but never returned. We had to wave someone down 20 minutes later. The popcorn chicken was dry and they charged extra for a watery katsu sauce without informing us. The chorizo was overpriced at £6.50 for only 6 pieces that were lukewarm and chewy. Went here for our wedding anniversary meal last night. Friendly staff on arrival. Delicious food, reasonably priced drinks too! Like the fact you can pay easily online takes out the awkwardness if you didn’t want to leave a tip (we did) only complaint is that the table we were sat on seemed to have been squeezed in right next to the bar and toilet made it very busy with people walking by. Will definitely be trying more of the other good pubs
Excellent cooky cocktails, plenty of selection and great quality! The food was perfect, even if I did fill up on cocktails first! Lovely atmosphere and beer garden with easy app ordering and quick service. We even got a happy anniversary dessert! My previous visit in July was amazing, but this time was disappointing. The food was lukewarm and the chicken had undercooked batter. The curry sauce was overpriced and not authentic katsu curry sauce. The service was slow on a quiet Sunday night. I was not impressed and probably won't be returning.
FANTASTIC food although expensive they were huge servings. Strongly recommend the baked Camembert and the large chicken Yakitori. Good selection of beers Dog friendly within bar and outside, not restaurant Food arrived promptly
First time visiting this pub. After a long drive from Brighton for work. Lone patron they were friendly, welcoming, food top notch and fairly priced. Would highly recommend to anyone. Will be returning tomorrow
We saw 5 rats running from the kitchen to the outdoor seating area whilst having a few drinks. We told the bar man and he said he already knows about it
