However, my biggest complaint was about the pitcher and saucer setup in the back dining room by the water. I'm not sure if there are other similar setups in the restaurant, but this was my experience. It was completely unhygienic! They kept the pitchers right behind the guests, where hair and other debris could easily fall into them or come into contact. I only noticed the setup when one of the servers grabbed a pitcher, and I felt a wet smack on my back, realizing my hair had been in it and had fallen onto the saucers below.

I was recommended this restaurant from two locals separately, one of which mentioned the place got a new chef and had really turned around in the last year. (I hope this fact is true and I 'm not insulting anyone) Judging by the reviews, which seem to be mostly positive recently, I will assume that is true. The food was fantastic! We started with corn fritters and shrimp cocktail, which, while not overly extravagant, were still very tasty. For our main courses, I ordered the grilled shrimp, and my husband had the seafood pasta; both dishes were excellent! The portion sizes were modest but satisfying.
Our waiter was outstanding! He took the time to share the most popular dishes and the evening's specials, and he struck a great balance between being attentive and not overbearing.
The parking situation was mediocre. They offered a valet service, but we opted to park down the street and walk to the restaurant instead. The valet service looked efficient and hassle-free for those who used it.

First of all, our server was fantastic. However, the bar area had a strong odor, reminiscent of a dirty rag that had just been used for cleaning, which was off-putting. My husband ordered the flounder dinner, but he received two very small pieces of fish that were not worth the price. The mac and cheese was tasty but quite dry and definitely lacked creaminess. As for my crab legs, they were flavorful, but they were the hardest I've ever had to crack in 40 years of eating them. I'm not quite sure what caused that. We love the location and visit regularly when we come to the island, but if the food quality continues to decline, we may need to look for a new place to dine.

We had an amazing brunch at the Boathouse on Isle of Palms! Everything was perfect and the portions were huge. We sat at the outdoor bar, where our delightful bartender was also our server. She was adorable and even took our picture by the water to commemorate a special Father’s Day moment! The view over the water was stunning—check out the photos! The shrimp and grits were the best I've ever had, with just the right amount of spiciness and flavor. We also tried the salmon and mahi-mahi, both bursting with flavor thanks to the lemon butter sauce. The corn hushpuppies were fantastic as well. I can't wait to come back the next time I’m in town!
We both ordered the Poached Seafood Combination. I had the pimento cheese grits as my side. They were some of the BEST grits I have EVER had! They were so creamy and flavorful!! My girlfriend got the mashed potatoes as her side and they were delicious as well! Our bartender/server was Hallee, let me tell you she was PHENOMENAL!!!! Hallee was super friendly, very attentive, and truly went above and beyond! Can't recommend this place enough especially if you have the pleasure of Hallee waiting on you!!! (Atmosphere wise was very low key. You can either dress up or down)
For our entrees, we had a variety of dishes, including lobster tails, a subpar iceberg wedge salad (which came with a meager 4 ounces of chicken for an extra $10), seafood pescatore (a special pasta with mussels, calamari, and fish), Caesar salad, and crab cakes. Unfortunately, the consensus among us was that the seafood lacked seasoning, leaving us all feeling quite dissatisfied with our meals. Additionally, the seating arrangement was not ideal for accommodating a large party, which further detracted from the overall experience.
Next, we made our way to the dining area on the lower floor. It’s quite small, leading to a cozy atmosphere, but it filled up quickly. We indulged in sweet corn hushpuppies, which were lightly fried and had an amazing flavor, as well as two platters of fried flounder that had an excellent batter and tasted incredibly fresh, paired with fresh potatoes. Our waitstaff was friendly, and the kitchen operated efficiently even with the restaurant packed.
I highly recommend giving this place a try!

We came to Boathouse for dinner on a Monday night. They weren't very busy so it made sense why getting a reservation was super easy. Our server was super friendly and helpful with the menu. We ordered the lobster bisque, the crab cake and filet, the pan seared scallops, and the crab cake plate. Everyone liked their food, though the pancetta in the scallop dish was not crispy as it is usual served, so that took away from the dish. Overall our experience was good and we would come back again.
The food is AMAZING!! Hands down the best salmon I have ever had! Flavor of everything is delicious!! Do wish that portions size of sides was a bit bigger but the flavor of the mac and cheese cancels it out lol!! Melissa was our server, so nice and helpful with questions! Will definitely be back!
