Having eaten here several times before, we decided to go for dinner with friends Friday evening. Sadly we didn't have a good time. We were shown a table, then waited half an hour before anyone came to take a drink or food order, no reason given for delay or an apology. Sadly my steak pie contained no meat, which was a disappointment. Our waiter half heartedly told us he would inform the chef, unsure if he did or not. We ordered dessert which took forever to appear, I then had to ask for my coffee as it had been forgotten. It has always been a nice place to visit for dinner or just drinks with friends, however our recent experience has now put us off.
Four of us visited here for Sunday lunch before two of us travelled home to South Wales. Our friends who live nearby in Horndean had not been previously but will certainly make it a regular visit in the future. The food was local sourced freshly made and was cooked to perfection. I had the Lamb Shank and have never tasted better. Complements to the Chef. I will definitely visit again whenever in the area.
We recently dined with a group of 14 people and were disappointed by the lack of attention paid to the vegetables. The parsnips were overcooked and had a chewy texture, indicating a noticeable decline in the quality of food since our last visit.
The food was delicious and nicely presented. Our waitress was very pleasant and our meals were served promptly. Sitting at a beautiful table by the window made our visit even more enjoyable.

The pub and food were lovely, but we were disappointed by the small portion sizes for the price we paid. Some of us ordered the specials and they were only warm rather than hot.
Good food and service BUT didn't appreciate being told by who I presume was the manager that we could only have the table for 2 hours as it was booked by somebody else!
As brewery pubs go, this is a really nice, warm, cozy pub serving a good selection of ales and some nice home cooked food.

Excellent service from beginning to end table not said in time, but the staff kept us informed at any time our waitress Laura was absolutely brillisnt

Five of us dined there for Sunday lunch. We all enjoyed our meals and though the portions were very generous, we cleared our plates.
A favoured place of many years for the happy couple, as their proposal of marriage took place there over 25 years ago.
