This charming pub has recently been renovated and while the amenities are new and modern it has not lost any of its charm and history. It is one of the oldest Pubs in the area having been built in around 1840. The menu has recently been changed and I had the open steal sandwich for lunch. It was sitting on pumpkin bread form the bakery next door and the steak was tender and juicy and topped of with an egg. I thoroughly enjoyed the steak sandwich and highly recommend it. The person I was with had the chicken schnitzel which was crumbed on site and was nice and moist and not overcooked. The pub also services the Quest apartments over the road so we decide to have breakfast there the next day....
We hadn't been to the British for quite about a year as the last time we came the food and service was terrible. We were glad we gave it another go. The menu had a great variety we tried the barramundi, the fragrant curry and the sirloin . Perfectly cooked, the rissotto and sauce with the Barra were superb. Best Steak ive tried in a while. The curry was gorgeous and suited my friend who is vegan and she was happy that there was variety of vegan dishes. The atmosphere was missing no music and service was a little laxed as our plates sat finished in front of us for at least half an hour. Will definitely come back though the food won us over ....
After receiving good reviews from local friends I decided to have breakfast here one Saturday morning. That was a mistake. After paying $5 for white toast it came out as warm bread (must have been in the toaster for 30 seconds) and then put the slices under my sqash ball textured poached eggs (asked for soft) the so called toast ended up a soaking mush. Unfortunately I could not eat it. to top it off the coffee I ordered was mediocure. They lost a customer which is unfortunate for them as I was staying at the Quest for six weeks and they do a charge back to the room deal. I also like friendly staff.
Came here for Saturday lunch with family, 4 adults, 1 child. I was somewhat sceptical given it was a pub in Port Adelaide but ended up being blown away by the quality of the food. The steaks and schnitzel in particular were delicious.On top of that it was excellent value. 2 starters, 5 mains, 2 beers, a bottle of wine and 4 coffees and desserts came to $150.The food came quickly and the staff were friendly and attentive. Will be back next time we're in Adelaide. Réservez une table maintenant
We ordered 3 drinks, one being a white wine (the glasses have a line on them to show the waiter where to fill it to, this didn't happen). We ordered lunch for 3, the squid with sweet potato chips (chips were as if they'd been re-heated and re-heated again) the fish sauce poured already on the salad didn't gel! The wedges my daughter got were also re-heated
Went and had dinner with the family everyone got something different, quick service but food was disappoint. Small serves mixed grill was a joke, nothing like your typical pub meal. Nice decor, clean service was really cold, picking up plates before people on the table were done. Wouldn't recommend
