I wish I could have rated higher, but the floor and tables were so dirty and sticky. The fries were oily/soggy and seemed like they'd been left in the frier for a very long time. The cod we all got was ok, but the batter was a tad more flavorless than we were expecting. I do like that the batter was thin like we experienced when we went to the UK last summer. I don't know if they had any brown sauce/malt vinegar to go on anything, I didn't ask. I WILL say, the tartar sauce and curry sauce are great. I wish they had fried Mars bars! Not bad. I'm originally from England so I can definitely say this doesn't come close to British Fish Chips in my opinion. The fish was pretty flavorless, but was cooked thoroughly. The batter was too thick and very greasy, not like the traditionalBritish way of doing it. The chips didn't taste like British chips at all. Overall I'd give the meal a 5/10. There was a smallsection that has an assortment of British food products. They were extremely expensive. The 3 stars are mainly for the conditionof the place. It was my first visit to this restaurant, and I must say the fish and chips were fantastic. I shared a large cod with my husband, and the portion size was just right. The fish was large and flaky, and there was a generous serving of fries. The batter was perfectly crispy. I especially enjoyed the tartar sauce; it had a wonderful flavor. The staff at the front counter were polite and helpful, and the interior was clean and inviting. I’m not sure what those negative reviews about cleanliness were talking about, as it was nothing like that during my visit. While it's not the best fish and chips in town, it's still quite good. The portions of fish are generous, and the chips are delicious. I tried the haddock and found it to be creamier and richer compared to the regular white fish. The prices are slightly high, and the restaurant has a lot of unused space, which gives it a somewhat lonely feel. Additionally, they didn’t label our orders, making it a bit challenging to determine which fish was which once we got home—something that could easily have been resolved with a simple marking. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and could see myself dining here again.
Having lived in England on and off for 15 years, I've had my fair share of fish and chips. I stumbled upon this place by chance, and I'm so glad I did. It’s the closest you'll get to authentic British fish and chips without actually being in England. The food was fantastic and cooked to order, which is not something you find at many English chippies. I was pleasantly surprised that they also offered mushy peas, although I decided to pass on those. The food was delicious, and the staff were really friendly. You couldn't ask for more!
Very surprised actually. I've been disappointed at other local establishments stating they have authentic fish and chips. Well, this is authentic fish and chips. The not so good part is the mushy peas tasted like they put malt vinegar in it. Couldn't finish them. Plus way too many chips but the cod, tasted fresh to me. Super flakey. Place was clean and the servicewas good. Will be back.
I absolutely loved it! I took my mom with me and we both ordered the cod. It was perfectly fried and incredibly flaky. The chips (fries) were also excellent—homemade and delicious. We ordered a side of curry sauce, which was fantastic on both the fries and the fish. Additionally, I explored their little store and picked up some of my favorite British candies. Nice quiet little spot. Fish and chips were fantastic. Service was also great, staff was very friendly. The fountain drink station was sticky, but given how great the food was I would not take any stars off. Bathroom was also clean. Cool little selection of UK items in the side shop too.
