Fantastic food terrible staff except the manager who was lovely. On entry I went to the bar as no one was about. I was greeted with “yes”, I said I had a table for two booked for 50th birthday. I expected to be shown to a table but she just waved her arm in the air and said, sit where you like. RUDE. No one came to ask if we wanted a drink so again had to go and find someone. I asked the manager for a cocktail menu which he bought me. Still no one came to take my order so I called across to the bar to ask for a cocktail and was told I could only have what was on tap. So I said, what’s the point of giving me a cocktail menu then. I told her the manager gave me the menu, she went off in a huff...
Well the hotel looks fine from the outside and as for the inside well the restaurant/bar area looked great, they mentioned a function room but i never went there so dont know what it was honestly. There isnt much facilities there and as for going through the corridor its got decent design up until i went to the room i was staying as the heat over there not just in the hallway where my room was at but my room itself was so hot and all i was left with was a small fan that didnt blow that much wind, was pretty weak. I did find out that i was able to open the window as that got me kind of confused. My room was pretty basic and small, not much for design but the bathroom looked good
The food was delicious overall, but unfortunately the poached eggs were overcooked and the chips were extremely salty. The service was the most disappointing aspect of our experience. Despite making a reservation in advance, our table was not ready upon arrival and the staff was quite rude. In particular, one male staff member was very curt with us, greeting us in an unfriendly manner with a brusque "what do you want?"
Popped in to use the bar. Very quiet. The outside area, with the Marquee, is looking very rundown, with weeds growing around the Marquee itself! Hopefully this will be cleaned up soon, for the Sumner. UPDATE Of late the bar never seems to be open. I pass by regularly and it always seems shut by 10pm. Garden area over road still scruffy, needs weeding. Could be a goldmine in Summer, if run properly.

A lovely team greeted us at the Clarendon, we only stayed for one night. But will be back to use a hub to visit the surrounding areas. The rooms were fine and decent, one of the strongest showers too. They have a bar here, which is brilliant priced. A car park and garden area by the river were also a nice point.
Really enjoyed a nice healthy lunch at Clarendon Hotel recently and it was perfect, wonderful summer vibes throughout, outside seating area available right by the river and lots of drinks to choose from at the bar, welcomed by very friendly staff and quick service. Thank you for lovely experience!
We are a group of women who like to lunch and had a great time at this restaurant. We were so relaxed that we ended up spending 6 hours here, just chatting, eating, and drinking. The food was excellent and the service was great! Thank you.
The bar staff were fantastic Cat was such a pleasure made my stay very comfortable and I would definitely stay again, very helpful lovely lady, credit to you business
