This is the first time I have been to the Codfather since restrictions have been lifted and I was disappointed to find that non of the staff either preparing food or serving had any face covering. Whilst I understand that face covering is not mandatory it is a guidance requirement and I found that I was the only person in the shop with a face covering. It does not help others to consider wearing a face covering when the whole team deem it not necessary. Given the increasing infection rate I will not be using the Codfather until such time as infection rates are back under control as I cannot trust the attitude of this business not to be a spreader of the infection.
I recently visited this fish and chip shop and I must say, it is absolutely fantastic. The fish is fresh, the batter is crispy and not greasy, indicating that the oil is changed regularly. The portion sizes are generous (which is a positive) and there are always long queues, but the service is fast. This is definitely one of the best fish and chip shops I have ever been to.
£3.50 for this? I looked about for a grill and thought maybe it's in the back. Asked for a cheeseburger anyway. The guy hesitated then said ok no problem, of course it was no problem you gave me a pre-cooked burger with microwaved cheese on the bun, reminded me of a garage version but even worse. Never again! Chips were slimey too. (see photo) binned the lot.
I recently enjoyed some of the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. The use of groundnut oil in the cooking process really made a difference. Both the fish and chips were cooked perfectly - the fish was flavorful and tender, and the chips were crispy and delicious. The service was also excellent. Réservez une table maintenant
Came in with special dietary requirements and couldn’t have been more informative and helpful, went out of their way to ensure what I needed was made in the most accommodating way possible, even being insistent it wasn’t an issue. Would 100% use again, great food and great staff!
