We stumbled upon this pub by chance while taking care of our grandchildren and were lucky enough to snag a table. We ordered beer battered fish and chips and liver with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The food was hot, delicious, and may not have been the most suitable choice for a warm summer evening, but liver is hard to come by on menus these days! The dishes were cooked perfectly, a challenging feat, and the fresh vegetables were a nice touch. The fish batter was crispy and not greasy, and the chips were cooked just right. The staff were very friendly, and the Doombar beer was outstanding, with Timothy Taylor Landlord coming in a close second once we discovered it was available. The land...

Thank you for the “return to normal”. Dinner at the Billet was part of real life, before Covid 19, and it was “a joy”. We went into the pub, for the 1st time since early 2020, and we both felt at home and welcomed. The circumstances have changed for all of us but the Billet is a bellwether, and today I got normal back. Thank you to Richard, Sally and all of the staff for a lovely return to how life was. The food was brilliant, try the new pasta bake, the chilli was amazing. Timothy Taylor, oh how I have missed you. “What’s your usual? I don’t know, I can’t remember”. If you don’t go to this place it’s your own fault.

Thank you to everyone at the Crooked Billet for another slice of how I remember life to be. A pint of Timothy Taylor, perfectly served, and an amazing evening meal. ABC (anything but Chardonnay) for the boss, in joke, management always drinks Chardonnay. Straight forward good food and beer that is always “just right”. Miss the chance to visit the Crooked Billet and its your loss. Richard, Sally, again thank you for a lovely evening. Go, try, enjoy.

We had a group Christmas dinner on a chilly December evening. The food was simple but delicious and traditional. The roast potatoes and vegetables were perfect, the turkey juicy, and there was plenty of gravy. The Christmas pudding was moist and we could have as much brandy custard as we wanted. The staff were friendly, efficient, and accommodating. What more could you ask for? Réservez une table maintenant

Having enjoyed the crooked billet on a few occasions no complaints at all.unfortunately the owner let the place down with his racist bile tonight this old fashioned views have no place in society,I for one will never set foot in that establishment again and good luck to anyone that does! This has no bearing on the staff whatsoever ,very good

I love the freshly cooked menu, it's good home made cooking and i have never had a bad meal here. if you want to veg-out in the corner and enjoy a quiet evening out, whether it's to eat or to have a drink, this is a cosy spot in which to do either. Very friendly and accommodating staff too which is always a bonus.

We visited at the end of July, whilst we were staying in the area from our home in Cornwall. We enjoyed a superb roast dinner. Friendly, welcoming staff and an all round enjoyable experience. We look forward to returning!!! Thank You!!! Réservez une table maintenant

The atmosphere at this restaurant is very unfriendly, and it seems like the staff finds it difficult to interact with customers. There are no smiles or verbal contact, but the ales are well-maintained.
