Really disappointed with the trip advisors as much as the pub. This was our first time here so we were looking forward to it based on the recent reviews. I rang and tried to book a table for 6:00 to 6.30 and was encouraged to make it 6 as they were busy later. When we turned up we were the only people there for half an hour and then 2 other couples came in before we left at 7:25pm. We ordered the dough balls to start and the garlic butter was frozen. The menu of lots of different pies on offer from the previous tenants was still visible but not on offer. The menu was very limited unless you wanted pizza. I ordered the crown burger because the confit duck leg was unavailable. My partner order...
I went here last night with a friend, and was really pleased to have found it. You can get the usual fare of steaks and burgers but they also had a few more restaurant-style meals, eg. cassoulet, boeuf bourguignon and chicken chasseur. I had the confit duck cassoulet and it was excellent, melted in the mouth. The team obviously love food, and it comes across in the cooking. Was surprised how quiet it was on a Thursday, but wonder if this is because people don't really know they're there.
We had a fantastic Sunday lunch experience at this restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious roast Chicken with a variety of vegetables and a homemade Yorkshire Pudding. The desserts, including Rhubarb Crumble and Chocolate Hooky Sponge, were also outstanding. The atmosphere was cozy with a welcoming log fire, and the service was exceptional. This pub has been re-invented and is now a gem, adding great value to the village of Deddington.
Recommend by colleges who live local to Banbury, planned to meet friends for food, From entering to leaving the staff were all absolutely lovely, Really enjoyed our time here. Harry was a fantastic host and the food was brilliant and great quality. Well priced and great choice of beer and ales. Will definitely be returning soon! Thanks!!

Dropped in for lunch on way back from a day out. We hadn’t booked, but were seated swiftly in the garden. Can honestly say this is one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten, and I have had a lot of pizza! Salad and fries also lovely and fresh. Even though it’s a 40 minute drive from our house, we will visit again just for the pizza!
Energetic team. Very welcoming and enthusiastic. Restaurant is in transition and ambience will I am sure improve in the New Year as a result. Kitchen also work in progress. Some excellent dishes. Some near misses. Wish them well and I am sure 2023 will be exciting and successful.
The steak frites, New Zealand sauvignon blanc, and local beer were all delicious. My family enjoyed the pizzas as well. The location and atmosphere of the restaurant were great. The family who runs it were also very friendly.
A lovely pub well worth making the time to visit. Great food, always innovative and delicious. The rabbit pie was recommended and indeed very tasty! Lovely staff and owners, always making an effort. Thank you!

Warm and friendly welcome from Harry, food was good quality, very enjoyable and reasonably priced. Impressed by the knowledge around gluten intolerance, which was reassuring. Will definitely be going back.
Fabulous roast beef 5 stars. Friendly attentive service in lovely cosy pub. Amazing value too! Can’t rate highly enough, we will be back and recommending to everyone
