we took a chance and here for dinner on Sunday based on the 4 stars plus rating. it was a good experience overall, but nothing extraordinary. the personal was mediocre and could be a bit more inviting. we dictated outside what was nice when the weather was being carried out. the outdoor ambiance was on the way, but it is on the way, so there are passersby while they feed. the salmon was a little over boiled. the sweet potato bread, which accompanied the salmon, was tasty. the paella was nothing special and the rice or pasture with which he came was not at all pleasant. we left the biggest part of it in the plate. the chickencriollo was delicious and the best of the three meals. mojitos were...
Hoboken is the home to a variety of good Cuban places, and this is one of them. The food and selection here is decent, particularly their flexibility and willingness to cater to those V VEG. The price point here is a little less friendly, as it is on the higher side. With that said, it is a nice place and the ambiance is one of the more unique you will find in Hoboken if you go to the back rooms. From the chicken and sausage fried rice to the variety of steak options they provide, it's a good place to get some unique flavors to your tastebuds if you don't frequent Cuban fare. I did like the vibe of the restaurant and the people were super friendly and accommodating. But be prepared to wait a long time for your food and drinks. Our reservation was for 8pm. Drinks came at 8:30, app and 8:53 and entree at 9:30 and dessert at 10. For what we ordered, I don't think it should have taken that long to prepare each item. Also the food though good wasn't great to wait that long for it. The dessert was really good though. I wouldn't come back because of the wait time and because I can get better Cuban food elsewhere.
This restaurant experience was quite disappointing. We ordered a bottle of wine, but it was served at an uncomfortably warm temperature, around 90-100 degrees. The mussels we had for appetizers tasted stale, which was a letdown. I was also taken aback by the size of the medium rare steak we received—please see the attached photo for reference. It felt like it was meant for someone else, as if we were just an afterthought. To top it all off, the service was even worse than the food. I hope this review is helpful. For years I have watched everyone enjoy bread at the table. But The Cuban offered me a while basket of GLUTEN FREE casaba bread. It was so delicious, I almost cried! Our server was so nice and helpful in helping me choose gluten free items on the menu. This will definitely be a regular stop for us whenever we visit the area!
This restaurant is beautiful, offering fast and friendly service, along with strong drinks and delicious food. The guacamole was incredibly tasty and refreshing; I wished it would never end. The tamales were also excellent. The rock steak was so tender that you could cut it with a butter knife.
