Hype. That’s the only way I can describe The Drover. Everyone says it great, so it must be great. But, it’s not. The atmosphere is ok. A bit retro, giving it a Steak and Ale feel. Except, it’s not done intentionally. The service is perfunctory. The famous salad bar is a facsimile to Pizza Hut circa 1982. Bacos, pepperocini and black olives included. The $25! luncheon steak was tiny and tough, but the fries were excellent. The so-called amazing Whiskey sauce, with a secret ingredient let me guess…. Hmmmm… whiskey? was meh. The dry white toast must be a Midwest thing. The experience was so bad that I decided to forego my visit to Gorats, since everyone says The Drover is better. I’m glad I did...
