Is giving 0 stars possible? Negative stars? Extremely disappointed with this place. First off, the drink menu wasn't correct at all as they were out of almost everything. They had to literally tell us the three only drinks available because what we kept asking for wasn't available. Then we place our order, starting with an appetizer. We get our drinks in a few minutes, no problem. But then we wait almost AN HOUR for our food to come out. I timed it and it literally was 55 minutes. Did our appetizers come out though? This review specifically focuses on a takeout meal I prepared for my friend and her son last fall (November 2023). I ordered a couple of appetizers (chicken momos, keema, and vegetarian samosas) and two main dishes (paneer butter curry and tandoori shrimp), along with plain naan and extra rice. Unfortunately, I've noticed a decline in quality at EK over the years. For instance, the chicken in their curries has become rubbery, overcooked, and of poor quality—something I mentioned in my first review. At that point, it seemed to be lunchtime for the young cook, who decided to take his break right in front of me at the kitchen delivery window. While I didn’t mind that he was having a meal, it was frustrating to see him enjoying his food while we were left waiting. He took his time, clearly savoring his meal, and during this break, no food was sent out from the kitchen. My server, an older gentleman, used this moment to prepare takeout boxes for delivery but didn’t check on me at all. We started coming here before COVID, when they had the buffet. We only took what we could actually eat, and it was filling. During COVID, we came on Thanksgiving and ordered food, and the portions of the main dishes (to eat with the cheap rice) were still generous. Yesterday, after a long absence, we came in and ordered Matar Paneer Homemade Indian cheese cubes cooked with tender peas and mildly spiced tomato cream sauce. The size of the sauce serving was quite small compared to the rice. We gave honest feedback to the staff, and they adjusted our bill. This place is truly a hidden gem where you can get delicious Nepalese and Indian food. The Everest Kitchen is our favorite take out place for a busy weeknight and the quality of food is always the same! This time I was able to dine in after many years and WOW it was so good! First time trying the momos, they are so fresh and full of flavor. The tandoori chicken was sizzling hot and is finger licking good. The mango curry with lamb is sweet and it's great with the garlic nann. One thing they can improve is having better ventilation in the restaurant as my clothes smelled after eating there.
Really tasty food. Got a few items: some pakoras, somosas, tandoori, butter chicken, malai kafta, a mixed plate and some naan. The flavors were great. Got the malai 5 star spicy but it was very mild (but still delicious), the mixed plate was HUGE. Tons of meat. Overall, a great value, good food. Service was mediocre. For that reason I'd recommend takeout over dining in. But I haven't had a takeout experience yet so... we'll see.
When you walk in this small cozy strip mall restaurant you are greeted by friendly smiles and delicious exotic smells of cooking. The food lives up to this. Wonderful fresh baked naan, yummy dumplings, and delicious mixed grilled platter of meats. Service is friendly and efficient, and wine by the bottle is well curated and reasonably priced. A lovely experience.
I don't know why my previous review disappeared, but it did. We tried several dishes here, as well as the chai tea (Nepal style). This is food of Nepal, many dishes of which resemble their Indian counterparts. I especially liked the spicy goat curry (watch out for the bones). Service can be slow and inattentive. On the other hand, the chili momo was fantastic! It wasn’t spicy at all, but the sauce was truly amazing and packed with flavor. As for the ambiance, the restaurant was nice and clean, though it wasn’t very crowded during my visit. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with delicious food, despite a few adjustments needed for spice lovers.
