The Galley: A St. Pete Tavern

I’ve been visiting The Galley for years, and it’s always a great spot for a quick lunch during the workweek, a fun sports night, or a relaxed place to unwind while barhopping downtown. While sports nights can get a bit crowded and noisy, it’s refreshing to experience the local spirit. On weekends, it’s a definite favorite among the college crowd. The food is consistently hot, and the beer is always cold. The staff are friendly and take the time to make you feel valued, even during their busiest periods. A few bartenders and waiters, in particular, consistently go above and beyond to provide excellent service.

The Galley was a great place for late night food after traveling. The fish dip appetizer was the catch of day, and it was amberjack. The peppers that are in the side are HOT, be aware! The Don Pollo with Onion Rings was the recommended meal from the server, and she was spot on. Crispy, flavorful, and ready to eat! The best thing is that leftovers are put in a window for the homeless or unfortunate to get a piece of a meal if they are struggling. Thanks for doing that.

Came in from out of town and stopped in here to watch football and hang out with friends. The staff here is amazing. They make excellent drinks and are VERY present. Will definitely make this a regular spot when I come back to St. Pete.

First time here, ordered zucchini fries and the don pollo sandwich. The food was terrible, took a bite of each and didn’t want to have anymore. Very oily and flavorless. Wouldn’t go back for the food anytime soon. Réservez une table maintenant

Jason the bartender was fantastic, and he makes the best Espresso Martinis! The food was incredible too. We tried the Grouper sandwich and the Don Pollo sandwich, both of which were delicious.

A downtown gem for food and drink! It has a dive bar feel with exceptional service, delicious food and everything from Natty light to craft cocktails.
