"We had an impromptu late lunch on Tuesday 1st Feb. I ordered a sirloin steak, medium rare with bearnaise sauce . The steak was so tough and the strip of gristle along the edge was not removed . The chips were no better than budget...frozen chips and the sauce was thin and split an absolute disaster !! We have been using the George hotel over the last 25 years but unfortunately will not be returning ."

it's been a few years since I last visited the garden room in the george and what I remembered a good price-performance ratio, beautiful restaurant with fantastic dining is unfortunately no longer. at £118 for two appetizers, two main and one bottle of wine. there are two things I would expect on a minimum of nude; a good meal and friendly, attentive staff. I didn't. eating was best in average, the meat was not cooked to speculate and the chips were terrible. the burger was good as the French woofer soup. the personal was annoying and unfriendly. when we were one of three small tables in the restaurant, it should probably not be taken 20 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. under normal circumstances, I would probably make someone politely aware of my dissatisfaction, but I honestly felt that it would have been completely useless. the george has a fantastic call that I can imagine to get years of consistency and excellent, but that doesn't mean that it should be used as a crack if nobody can really be harassed. I'm not crazy, I'm just disappointed.

oh, my god. to visit an iconic restaurant, and yes still a good atmosphere, but unfortunately it's just not what it was. her iconic crabs and garnel cocktail has morphed into three iceberg salads, a buck of small...prawns at the end, dark crumbs later said that it contained white meat on the other side, and some tomatoes, with a side of the sose. to say that it had been joined by a 5 year old age, would be a pity. all for the bargain price. £20.00 for another starter, hit with arrogance when we calmly complained. maitre d’ was not really disturbed. Finally beautiful waitress asked if we like white crab meat instead.. hello .. it is £20.00 and should have white crab meat. £111.00 for two soups, a whisker, a grilled cocktail and a dessert plus water we have eaten yesterday in london with views of the themses and the eating was nicer, staff friendly and central london. sad, very sad, needs management overhaul and the chef who eat this, well, let us just say that they won't stay that way. a ära might end unless someone has sorted it out.

Ok the George is a lovely building. Ok the garden room has a good atmosphere. BUT I ordered a rare steak and it came well done, was tough, tasteless and a strange grainy texture. DREADFUL ! DREADFUL ! The mixed tomato side salad was tasteless...,watery and cold . The avocado and little gem salad was covered in a sickly dressing . All I wanted was an ordinary mixed side salad but there wasnt one on the menu. The chips were really awful white, powdery and undercooked. Presumably bought chips out of the freezer . The white wine was too warm. The waiter brought the wrong one to start with anyway a more expensive one !! but we spotted the error .The red wine was too cold. We wanted white wine with our starter but it was too warm so they suggested we had the red wine instead whilst the white wine cooled down in ice !! Totally absurd and at big prices. EXPENSIVE .

I can't thank the george enough for such a beautiful afternoon. soon for a afternoon tea that looked delicious.
