Iconic pub that has been through many changes of hands..we had really very good food here. Roast dinner with Fresh veg, with cauliflower cheese, and cheesy leaks as lovely extras. The best vegetarian gravy ever with my veg pie with homemade pastry lid. Portions could be smaller to make it more profitable though? The downside of this very old pub is that it needs an injection of cash to refurb it. Although it looks better in the dining room than before, over all the toilets need doing and it needs some interior styling and new stuff like a proper coffee machine. They could then offer mums with prams coffee and cake on certain mornings or afternoons as there are plenty walking by for school ru...

The George and Dragon have new owners. We visited over a year ago and it was excellent. Today we came by and it was fantastic. We had a vegetarian Sunday “roast” with all the trimmings stuffing, roast potatoes, gravy, green beans, Brussels sprouts, Yorkshire pudding, carrot and sweet potato mash. It was incredible. The selection well surpassed all of our expectations. They were playing an interesting selection of 1980s music. Everything from Van Halen, to Tracy Chapman, Starship to REO Speedwagon. It brought back a lot of great childhood memories. They also have a beautiful African Grey Parrot. Her name is escaping me but she is delightful, she even knows how to dance . Thank you so much for...

During a recent visit to the village we decided to pay the 'local ' a visit. Having looked on other social media sites, it was uncertain as to whether the pub was even open! One page ranted on about various reasons why the pub had closed!! Another, more recent page indicated it had reopened!! On a lovely evening we ventured into the 'beer garden '. It is completely overgrown and uncared for! The view to the pub was one of dirty windows, curtains hanging off the rails and a general feel of not caring. Our drinks were a pint of Bombardier and a glass of wine. Beer tasted off (not drunk and left on the table). The glass of wine was served in a lipstick marked glass! Would I eat here? Definitely...

Stopped here by chance last night after struggling to find somewhere that could cater for 7 without an hour long wait! We were so glad that we did!! The food (all homemade fresh) was amazing and there was plenty of it. All 7 meals were cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Even though we were all stuffed, we had to try the desserts!! Again, we weren't disappointed. Fresh, tasty and presentation outstanding! Staff were welcoming, friendly, efficient and couldn't do more for us. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area and we will be sure to visit again when we come back next year. Réservez une table maintenant

Called on the off chance it was open. What a little gem. Proper village pub with a chirpy welcome from the resident parrot in the bar area. Gorgeous home cooked food. My elderly father had steak pie with mashed potatoes and peas, supplied with a jug of home cooked gravy. Washed down with a nice pint of Black Sheep ale. Ample portion size. I had the shepherds pie with three veg and roast potatoes. Wonderful and very filling. Clean plates all round. Nice roaring fires and very friendly staff. We will certainly be back. I’d recommend anyone to try it. Ample parking at the rear of the pub.

It was getting late on Sunday afternoon and we hadn't had our dinner, so we nipped into the George and Dragon and asked if they were still serving Sunday Dinners, and was surprised when they said yes. Our meal was absolutely gorgeous, you could define what each piece of food tasted like, not like some that all taste the same. Separate tureens for the vegetables and lovely roasted beef gravy yum! Guess what were coming back for another meal soon :

Called in here today with my good lady wife and two young children. The barman was convivial and took an interest in the real ale (which was spot on). My wife enjoyed her pink gin and the children enjoyed making friends with the owl in the beer garden. All in all we were made very welcome in this pub which is full of character and the beer garden is a great sun trap. I look forward to returning and sampling the food.
