The restaurant had no ambience whatsoever. As soon as we arrived at the restauarant we were read the Covid riot act' by a lady (I believe one of the owners) who spoke in a consistently loud voice. We completely understand and appreciate the need for...Covid precautions at the moment but her approach was completely OTT and unnecessary. It made us feel like we were in boot camp' rather than at a restaurant (and I also told her that we'd already had a thorough breifing from our B&B host on how things worked at the Glen). I've been coming here years now and the food is amazing. The steak ale pie was lovely, and my daughter polished off her spaghetti bolognese. They had a choice of beer for my husband, and plenty of gins for me. The staff...are friendly and accommodating and their COVID policy is excellent. My only complaint, now that I am visiting as a family rather than a couple, is the children's menu my daughter doesn't really eat kid food' and so it's always better if the children are simply offered half a main. Appreciate this is difficult with things like pies or steaks but can easily be achieved with other dishes. Either way, we will be returning when we go back to Scotland for Christmas... hopefully f...
I’ll break down my review and give some advice at the end; The Welcome out of as very welcoming and friendly. Knew exactly the details of my reservation even though only made online mins earlier. Quick, efficient and informative....The Accommodation out of as very clean and contactable including modern facilities. Well stocked tea and coffee. Good shower and Bath. Staff and Service out of cleanly this is a well run Hotel and each member of staff have the exact same helpful and happy attitude to try to do more, not less for their guests. AND MY ADVICE….do not change anything …other than offer advice to other Hotels
Had to put my hands over my ears when being welcomed with we have to keep to the law'. Manager was positively rude and insulting when I queried his strange QR code check-in. Haggis was mediocre. Tried a bit of scampi dreadful avoid...it! Would have left if any other place had vacancies can understand why they may have had room for us at short notice. We had reserved a table as the limited number of restaurants in Newtonmore are incredibly busy because of Covid restrictions. The food is decent for the price you pay and the chips are amazing. Service was fine and we had a right chuckle with the...other guests in the back dining room when one of them lost his contact lens. We had the room upside down, it was in his pint of cider.
We had a lovely meal here. The menu was very good and the food was great and plentiful. of us ate here and all had different meals , none of us had any complaints. The staff were excellent. The hygiene measures were to...none. Tissue dispensers by the toilet door to open it with a bin outside to dispose of them. Lovely attention to detail.
As others have indicated in recent reviews, the behaviour of the leading staff member completely ruined our visit here. I take Covid precautions very seriously but the way we (and others) were spoken to (more like shouted at) by the female staff member as we...sat at our table was ridiculous. The food was average too.
We had a lovely meal, served by the attentive and friendly staff. We enjoyed it so much we changed our plans and booked for our second night. The venison, haggis, fish were all top quality. Don't think this is a chain hotel, it is independent...and the food is all freshly cooked on the premises. Réservez une table maintenant
We’d reserved ahead of our evening meal visit after a day on the hills. A very warm welcome, good selection of local Scottish beers and a menu to suit all diet requirements. We stayed traditional with prawn cocktail, fish and chips , lasagna, apple crumble...and custard.
