This place is a such a lovely treat : . My fiance and I went for cream tea here (next time, we'll pre-book after afternoon tea : and it was delicious. The tea and scones were great, with beautiful cup and saucers used. The place is decorated very thoughtfully with lots of attention to detail and looks really lovely. A lot of care has clearly been put in and the owner was very friendly with a lot of knowledge on tea and also the history of the building. We'd definitely go back and would recommend it for get-togethers. Also lots of seating outside to relax in the sun (weather permitting of course ! :
I first visited this place as a young man with my dad and friends during many fun nights out. The graffiti on the men's bathroom wall was quite famous; people traveled from all over the country just to see it. Back then, it was a pub, and Ken was an excellent publican. While it’s still a lovely spot, I don’t have those wild nights anymore. No more ten pints and driving home, haha!
Four of us cycled to the Golden Hop Tea Room. We were made to feel really welcome and enjoyed coffee and tea with cakes. They had an impressive range of different teas and included gluten free cake on their menu. The only other customers with house rinders who enjoyed their refreshments in the beautiful garden with their animals. A special venue which we will return to.
