I can only give this place two thumbs up for their delicious pastrami and chili cheese fries. The pastrami portion is so generous that you can add your own extras. You don't even have to order the fries with pastrami, they are that good on their own. I have been a patron of this restaurant for seven years now, although I don't visit every day. It's more of a special occasion spot for me, like when family is in town and we're looking for something new to try. Every time I visit, I always think I should try something different but I can never resist the juicy and delicious pastrami. Don't forget to pair it with the yellow chilies that come with your order, they really add to the flavor.
Don't be intimidated by the prices, the portions are huge. When my children were younger, our whole family could easily be satisfied with just one pastrami sandwich and chili cheese. Now that my kids are teenagers, we have to order two sandwiches. I really should try more dishes on their menu because there are so many tempting options. However, we always end up getting the pastrami and chili cheese sandwiches. Pro tip: if you order to-go, ask for the chili on the side so the fries don't get soggy on the way home.
Had to pick up our daughter, who flew in from Nashville with our granddaughter for a visit. I knew she would be hungry and the first place she wanted to go was The Hat. We were greeted with a courteous and friendly smile at the register, food came fast and both the Pastrami Dips and Wet Fries were as good as I remember from when I lived in the area. Thank you HAT for keeping it real!
The food at this restaurant was delicious, but it was quite challenging to eat. I shared a meal and struggled to fit it in my mouth. Half of the portion would have been plenty. I tried the chili cheese fries and pastrami sandwich. The flavors were good, but be sure to ask for extra sour cream and pickles to balance out the spice of the chili. Réservez une table maintenant
Despite being a fast food joint. It’s one of the best pastrami I’ve ever had. Super juicy, creamy (from the beef fat) and flavorful. Cant believe this is the first time I’ve tried it since I’ve lived in socal for 10+ years. Big portion enough to share btw me and my wife.
