The hen and the hog is one of these hidden gems that, once you find it, you want to go again and again. I had a reservation for 5:45 on a Saturday night. I came there at 5:30, but although the place was completely empty, I was still on bar to cool my heels. Good step because I had to taste the wines I wanted with dinner. Honestly, I can?t complain about a single thing. Our night was amazing, without a doubt. The food was phenomenal, you pay for good quality without a doubt. It was delicious. Started off with the pimento cheese bites, they were amazing. Cooked perfectly and plated beautifully with an amazing jelly-like sauce to eat them with. I had the smoked salmon, which came with broccoli, carrots, and the BEST mashed potatoes (cauliflower mashed potatoes I have ever had. I want the recipe for myself! However, I?m not sure I could do such an amazing job like the chef did tonight. Great place. Had the pimento cheese fritters, pulled pork sandwich, and a flourless chocolate cake with sweet corn and bacon ice cream. Also one of the best old fashioned cocktails I've ever tasted. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner and drinks here. Everything was incredible and we can?t wait to come back with some friends. The restaurant is a little out of the way in beautiful historic Halifax but it is definitely worth it.

Hands Down the Best!! Food is fantastic! Ryan the Chef is amazing he has a true passion for food, flavor and presentation. Service is always great! We have made this a regular place to eat. Book a reservation you will not regret it!

Really great hidden gem in the historic Halifax. This is the place for local farm to table. Collard greens and grits meets the point. Definitely you have to pour the shrimps. Worth the trip.

Charming restaurant in a charming area. The food was delicious and affordable. On the picture are the roasted bologna sandwich and mac n' cheese. I recommend The Hen The Hog.
