The Hertford Club

originally built in the 15th century. it was expanded in the 17th century and revamped in the 18th century. it was occupied by sir henry chauncey (1632-1719,) recorder by hertford and remarkable historiker. to bury the first floor. the creation of floor plates and tracks was returned to 'old henry'. lombard house is now home to the hertford club, a private club.

We watched the rugby on Saturday night. There were two big screens. Everyone had a good view. Lots of good beer. At half-time the pub provided a small mountain of sausages in rolls and hamburgers with onions for all the customers. This was most welcome, and very generous of the landlord. A most friendly and welcoming pub, and highly recommended.

a quiet oasis near the city center and has taken longer than the bircherly green shopping center, which is unfortunately not visible here. the new cook is very good.

Historic building but rather unimpressive interior decor. Nice garden and river terrace. Three real ales on hand pull.

Private members club, well worth a visit and to join. Lovely garden and Riverside terrace.
