We visited this restaurant for my aunties birthday it seemed a little strange having to wait outside for the doors to open instead of letting people come in gradually. The bar staff were friendly and the selection of beer is very good and tasted nice. The restaurant reminded me of something from the 80s everyone sat on long tables. Service was a little back to front but the staff were friendly and helpful. The menu was ok, a little outdated though, I've not seen fan of melon on a menu for years ; portion sizes good and the Stilton on the cheese course was very good. Not a bad place to visit, just needs a little modernisation, will visit again certainly
We visited for Sunday Lunch to celebrate the Ruby Wedding Anniversary of visiting friends from the USA. The attention to detail by the staff at the venue was wonderful, they decorated the table with celebration sprinkles and balloons, and even prepared special menus for the event. The Sunday lunch type meal was excellent, served with a smile. Then after the meal we used the folly in the grounds to take some photographs. This was the icing on the cake. Excellent day.
This restaurant is great for any occasion, from your wedding reception to your funeral tea and anything else in between I have over the years enjoyed many wonderful meals both casual lunches to formal gatherings . The food is always prepared and cooked to perfection, the staff are always polite and helpful, Nea and Andrew have continued the traditions of the excellence of the previous owners. You cannot go wrong here, excellent food at competitive prices.
I've been to The Hostess numerous times before. Always been happy, good venue for any celebration. The food is amazing, lovely atmosphere the owners staff are very efficient, helpful friendly. No waiting around for your food to arrive. If I were to have a teeny, tiny problem, it would be, as a person with mobility problems, I missed out on my coffee with my mince pie,as we had to fetch it ourselves, rather than have it served at the table. This is a great place to go for a carvery. They are very generous with their meat portions, and it is delicious. The beef especially is amazing. It melts in your mouth. There is always a decent selection of vegetables, and everything they serve is piping hot. I wish they made thicker gravy, though. The service here is always outstanding, too. The staff are very professional and friendly. In my opinion this is the best carvery around.
We have Just attended the Hostess for their New Years Eve Event It was a Very well organized event, Great Food, Great Entertainment and a Lovely Atmosphere. A Wonderful way to End one year and Start the Next! The Staff and Management make a real effort to make sure everyone is happy and Enjoying themselves. The Hostess puts on Many events through the year and we will 100% be attending More this year
We went on 27th July for my father's 91st birthday. We all had the carvery. However I had a vegan menu with vegetables from the carvery , my son had salmon and my partner a ham and chicken pie along with the carvery vegetables. There was also a good selection of Vegan sweets too. Staff are really really friendly. Definitely would go again. They also do Friday night disco with a 3 course meal.
Went for a carvery mid week and found it to be outstanding. The quality was excellent and far better than any of the “chains” around. Meat was quality, plenty of choice of veg too. They even doggy bagged my leftovers meat! Drinks were very reasonably priced too which topped off a great meal, we’ll be back. Réservez une table maintenant
