The Italian Kitchen

The issue arises when you are the only one in a group who did not enjoy a restaurant that everyone else loved. In a party of six, each person ordered different dishes such as gnocchi, spaghetti, chicken, and veal, while I opted for the lasagna. The server informed me that it was one of the two house-made pastas. Despite typically enjoying lasagna, this particular dish was dry and lacked flavor, possibly due to a shortage of sauce. Perhaps I simply chose the wrong dish, as the other five members of my group all seemed to enjoy their meals. The service, however, was good. I would rate this restaurant a 4 out of 5.

After a full day of tourist activities, we found ourselves at the Italian Kitchen in Vernon. The restaurant is lovely - as soon as you walk in, you can watch the cooks preparing your meal right in front of you. Our server, Carly/Carlie (not sure of the spelling), was incredibly friendly and helpful in choosing a dish. I opted for the gluten-free pasta, which I knew would be safe for my friend with celiac disease. My husband's dish arrived steaming hot and delicious. I also enjoyed a recommended glass of Trentangeli red wine, which was fantastic. Apologies for the dark pictures.

I am not sure how this restaurant can claim to serve Italian food when I can make better dishes at home, and I'm not even Italian! The food was very bland and lacking in flavor, and the staff was not very welcoming. I was not impressed at all. It was a waste of my time and money. This was my second visit, and I thought I would give them another chance, but I will not be returning for sure.

There was a gluten-free pasta option available, and the soup of the day was also gluten-free.
