The Maitre D approached us only after our card had been taken and asked about our meal. We politely expressed our dissatisfaction and mentioned we understood their staffing challenges. He explained their difficulties and offered dessert on the house, but then said the bill was already processed and gave us a note for next time. When our barely touched plates were cleared and we declined a takeout box, he didn’t offer any refund or further compensation beyond the dessert.

Dec 2021: I would consider returning, but I was somewhat disappointed with certain dishes given the price. We were a group of ten and appreciated having the first private room on the right. We tried one of each appetizer. The shrimp scampi had a questionable smell, but the others were well-liked. My gumbo (pictured) was rather bland, with the flavors blending so much that everything tasted similar, though I did enjoy the chopped green onions on top – which says a lot, since that was the most memorable flavor. I really loved the food. However, my mother did not get what she ordered. When my mom mentioned politely to the waitress the error, the waitress told her that that is what she ordered and did not offer to correct the mistake. The waitress proceeded to show her the notepad w what she wrote, which I found a bit rude. She was very short with her. I even heard my mom's order and mentioned that was not the order. My mom was very disapointed but did not want to make a fuse since she was with friends. I felt bad since I know this was a special occasion and expensive for her. I don't think it would have taken much effort to apologize and provide the correct meal.
I'm uncertain if I'll come back. A few months ago, the service was just average. We had the same server this time, and she seemed to prioritize one table over the others. I ordered the lobster pasta, and she immediately pointed out there were only four left. I replied, "Well, now there should be three." Did she expect me to wait until she finished with the other table? Why mention the limited quantity to me? Shouldn't all guests be treated fairly? It's important to be mindful, as making customers feel unwelcome can cause serious issues. There was no goodbye or even a simple "have a nice day."

Had a fantastic office holiday party here. The food and atmosphere were great, and the staff did a fantastic job putting the menu and food together. I would definitely recommend it. Parking: Plenty of parking. The restaurant is in an old Manor house that is set a little bit off the quiet street, but there is a well lit sign to direct you.
Very pleasant atmosphere. The host was wonderful, and the wait staff was attentive.Food was cooked well to exact specifications.Highly recommend spending an evening soaking up the splendor of Kings Contrivance.
Interesting venue. Nice setting. Service was great. Food was average although it was for an event. I don't know how they do regular dinners. It's definitely a good choice for a event. Nice private setting.
Very good food and prices are competitive. Service was very good considering it was a packed house from a Dentist convention and 2 retirement parties !! I recommend the coconut ice cream, pretty amazing.
