We arrived early and wanted to know if we could get an early check in or just drop our bags off while we walked around town. Tamika and Christina were working at the desk. They could not have done more to accomodate us. They sorted out our reservations and got us settled in our rooms right away. They were friendly and attentive and really welcoming. We ate at the restaurant twice. Once for dinnner and once for breakfast. The food was very good and the servers were extremely nice. The service was a bit slow, but since that is true everywhere these days (due to lack of employees) I really don't count that against them. As a matter of fact, I applaud them for being so cheery in light of the fac...

Decided to have a girls weekend trip to Mount Dora and was excited to stay at the Lakeside Inn. The landscaping is quite nice. The service we experienced in both dining and at the bar were very good. We planned to stay Friday and Saturday night, checking out Sunday morning. That came to an abrupt halt at the onset of the second night. An onslaught of flying insects, termites, infiltrated the room we had. I’ve never in my life seen such a swarm of pests indoors, much less in the room I’m supposed to spend the night in. We immediately went to the front desk to talk about what we could do and since they inn was booked solid, we checked out, and drove the three hour trip back home. The front des...
Visited for the weekend and was disgusted to find our room was infested with termites. Initially they were only on the windowsill, however, as the weekend progressed so did the termites. They were flying around and landing on us throughout the day. There were termites in our luggage (clothes), on our bed and throughout the room. When I unwrapped the toilet paper I was discusted to find termites crawling on it (under the packaging). When I finally addressed the issue with the front desk I was told some people don't have a problem with it When asked to be moved to a different room I was informed there were no rooms and even if there were they could not garentee they be bug free. The desk clerk...
I do agree that it is a little hard to figure out how to be seated. You can go into the bar and find someone though. There is the bar seating, an inside dining room and the porch. After tracking someone down we got seated outside and had a lovely view of the lake and scenery. It was fun to sit and eat at this historic hotel. Our server was very friendly and single handed Lu managing the porch, which ended up getting pretty busy. We ordered the Cheese Plate to start. It was a generous portion of cheese, berries and prosciutto. It also came with two jams but weirdly no crackers or bread to eat with it. For dinner we ordered the Chicken Roulade and Chicken Pot Pie. Both were very large portions... Réservez une table maintenant
I'm not sure why this place is so lowly rated, it's possible because there are SO many good spots in the area that it's a hard contest. This restaurant feels like you're going back in time, as the hotel around you dates back to the 1800s. It's a classic spot, good for brunch, and if you can snag a seat on the veranda that's the best spot in the house. Inside is a bit quieter, the bar seating has a dark, man cave feel, meanwhile the main dining room is a bit more eloquent. I wish they would have a suggested attire, if I'm being honest. It's such a shame to see people in sweatpants in such a lovely historic spot. The food was good, not anything to rant and rave over, but solid and good. The se...
The location is amazing with beautiful views of the lake. The service was not at all one would expect from a restaurant at that price point. We had to ask for everything and it took almost an hour to be served. The server was polite when there but overall the lack of interest in getting drinks, meals and order taken really made for a bad experience. The meal unfortunately for as appealing as it looked was lacking. The baked brie appetizer came out with only 6 different kinds of small Crackers. A full round of brie and nothing to pair it with but a couple Crackers? Both of the Filiets were completely overcooked and dry.The view and the company was what made this evening enjoyable. However, I wo...
the outside is picturesque and very picturesque, but this is where it ends. an exit in the room and it is next to the bathroom washbasin. the matratze is so old that I can feel the feathers. paint from the doors. no water in the main hotel. I was told that there was a sales machine in the next building. then I was told I was trying the bar. finally water! also my key hardly worked in the door. had to go into the room every time a few minutes. some serious maintenance needs. I understand that it was built in 1883, but none of my problems are due to it.
Situated in Downtown Mt. Dora, you are within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the lake. If you enjoy historic places this is wonderful. There is no coffee maker or fridge in the room, but there is wonderful free coffee in the lobby to be enjoyed on the porch. Four poster beds were comfy and the room was clean. Old world subway tile bathroom.. I would like to see a higher commode. My only reason not to give 5 stars is the outside was in need of a pressure wash. The staff was very gracious Réservez une table maintenant
Had brunch this morning with my husband. We both had eggs Benedict, his with smoked salmon, mine was Canadian bacon. Except nobody in the us actually uses Canadian bacon...mine was smoked ham. Everything was good and served hot. Home fries were nicely spiced. Great coffeeSuggestion...if a great breakfast place actually imported real Canadian bacon peameal would be great they would draw in a lot of Canadians who can't get it here.
