Four of us went to The Marlborough Head for lunch and ordered four meals. The woman behind the bar brought out cutlery for all of us, but then only three meals were brought to the table. After waiting for the fourth meal, we asked how long it would be, only to be told that they only had three meals on the order. We were then told that we had not ordered four meals, even though we clearly had. They said it would be a 25-minute wait for the fourth meal, but we couldn't wait as we were on a tight lunch schedule. The waitress showed no concern for the mistake and did nothing to try and fix it. The decor was shabby and dirty, and the restaurant was freezing cold. The customer service was nonexist...
Went here just for drinks on a Friday evening. Positives: Really close to Rochford Train Station so no excuse for drink driving or need for expensive cabs home Great live music (The Poachers) Shows the football Toilets clean Close to Stavros Grill after a few too many pints! Negatives: Quite expensive (but understandable in cost of living crisis) Ran out of shot glasses so had a tequila in a jagerbomb glass! Small venue to don't expect a seat unless you get there early
I came back today because I had lunch in the marlborough head this afternoon. five of us celebrate a birthday, eating was brilliant, very fresh, tasty, excellent portions and good value for money. we were all pleasantly surprised and will definitely come back soon. many thanks that they are so nice to have somewhere to go now where we know that eating is fab
After reading recent reviews, I was a bit concerned about this restaurant. The atmosphere is very cliquey and loud, with regulars crowding the bar. The staff is not very friendly and the place has a musty smell that could use some attention. Overall, the experience was quite average and lacking in atmosphere, so I will not be returning.

right next to the rochford hotel we were in this really friendly pub by alan and his personal. we had a really good time and the evening meal we had was great and much laughing and a good time with the friendly and welcoming staff and ancestors. we recommend you to make a visit when they are in the opposite! ... gary val
I’m have recently moved to Rochford. The staff and owner have all welcomed me and my loved ones with open arms. The food is excellent every time and the beer is always so fresh and full of bubbles! The cleanliness is also too notch: you cannot fault this place x
Always friendly and welcoming staff. Great garden, with well spaced tables. Nice touch is bringing the dogs a bowl of water. Our favourite local pub.
Really nice locals pub, good crowd in on an early Friday evening. Good staff good well kept beer.
