First visit to the Middle House, having been recommended it earlier in the day, after a reservation at another venue was cancelled. We were seated in the restaurant area and served very quickly. Pleasure to read a menu and struggle to choose what to have,...due to the excellent range of choices. My partner decided to gk for the Camembert to start and the Pie for main, whereas I went for Cod Taco’s and the Goan curry. All food fantastically presented and well cooked, a truly fantastic meal. My two previous visits were fine and my reviews reflected my delight and pleasure. Sadly today's visit proved disappointing. Although the service was excellent, the food on this occasion was tasteless and bland. Clearly the microwave had been in full use and the starter...of King prawns plus dip the most tasteless and bland g I've ever experienced. The beefburger was lukewarm and my brother's venison also bland and heated to extinction in a microwave. So disappointed as this was a birthday treat and an experience I wouldn't wish to repeat.
I’ve been really excited to try the middle house and I booked a table last week. I thought we would be eating our Sunday roast in a glorious listed building with beams and a lovely log fire. Instead we were sat in the purple up...lit monstrosity of a conservatory which frankly felt like eating in an Indian restaurant. How did they even get planning permission for such a ghastly space?! Food and service was good but honestly wish we had gone somewhere else for some proper sunday atmosphere. What a disappointment
Wow, where to start! I honestly can’t fault this place. From the minute you walk in, you are made to feel like a VIP. The open fires are so welcoming, and the service is faultless. The staff are kind and attentive, and couldn’t do more...for you. The pork belly is absolutely beautiful generous portion, and a real variety of veg to go with it. The espresso panna cotta is to die for! A beautiful lunch, and I can’t wait to return!
My husband and I had lunch at The Middle House this week, based on a friend's recommendation, and we were extremely impressed. The food was incredibly delicious (we tried four starters and each one was amazing), the atmosphere was charming, and the service was very friendly and efficient. We will definitely return!
