Upon entering our room, we were delighted to find a spacious bed with a beautifully crafted old headboard—we loved it! The room included all the essentials: a kettle, tea and coffee, an iron, a suitcase stand, and even a spare blanket, which I definitely needed. The bathroom was ample and clean, though a bit outdated. However, I was taken aback to see a towel hanging above the toilet. The thought of drying my face with it was quite off-putting. To my dismay, it turned out to be the only towel provided, meaning I was not only wiping my face near the toilet but also drying off after bathing. We promptly went to the reception for additional towels; I refused to use the toilet towel for anything...
Firstly, a very old and beautiful building and the Management team have clearly learned from previous reviews. The garden are is very beautiful too. Plenty of parking too. I could be not far from my car. I had forgotten to mark my booking ground floor room so I had been allocated a first floor room, but when my wife advised them about my mobility issues, we were moved to a ground floor room. Continental breakfast was ok and free for our rate. The staff we met were very helpful and our room was serviced during the day too. Well located for getting around the area. We used the Moonraker as our fabulous wedding location and it was so so perfect. The team here are amazing, I would like to say a personal thank you to Suzie and James who made the day go so perfectly, along with the events manager Carisma. We love the feel of the Moonraker and would highly recommend to anyone considering this as a wedding location. Thank you again to all those behind the scene we didn’t see kitchen staff the food was fab! The housekeeping team allowing for such an easy check in service and having a selection of rooms ready early all your hard work was noticed.
The scones were warm from the oven and incredibly light, with two fruit and two plain options, accompanied by generous portions of clotted cream and jam. We also enjoyed a variety of delightful individual cakes, and the tiny lemon and raspberry tart was simply delicious!
While the finger sandwiches were a bit lackluster—consisting of one each of egg, ham, and a rather oddly flavored cucumber—we still enjoyed them. Overall, it was a very enjoyable afternoon!
