My partner and I came to this restaurant while on our way to the cinema. We don't visit Dereham often, but live in Watton. After being unable to get a table at the nearby chain restaurants, we decided to try The Old Eagle. Despite its unassuming appearance, we were pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere. Initially thinking it was just a pub/café, we ordered something quick as we needed to make it to the cinema on time. However, we soon regretted our decision when we saw other tables enjoying the steak on the stone. We vowed to come back and try it another day, and we were not disappointed. The dining experience at this restaurant is fantastic and budget-friendly. The breakfast is outstanding and the owners are lovely. The decor includes numerous paintings, making it a great spot for birthdays and special occasions. The staff always goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. The superbock beer is refreshing and the bottle harbour dish is delicious. The grilled steak is cooked to perfection and there is a wide variety of options to choose from. The DJ on Saturdays adds to the fun atmosphere, making it a great spot for a night out. Saturdays tend to get busy, so it's best to arrive early to secure a table.
After a long 350-mile journey through the night, I stopped in at this restaurant feeling tired and hungry. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they served the largest all-day breakfast I've ever seen! It was absolutely delicious. I couldn't finish it all, but I wish I could have. It was definitely worth more than the £4.75 they charge. Unfortunately, I won't be able to come back soon as I am currently on vacation.
