The original Thunderbird Steakhouse has been owned by the family since 1956 and is known as ?go for cheese steaks in Philadelphia. I waited years to come here and I wasn't disappointed. Our waitress Gail was thrilled. She was fast to our icey tea drinks (which is also a must) and then the cheese steaks arrived. A squeeze of mustard and ketchup in the middle and then BOOM! Taste is alive. The texture of Sirloin meat with cheese and soft bread takes what could be seen as a steak roller to a culinary delight beyond faith. We live just 15 minutes away, but we opted for delivery. We placed our order for one pizza at 6:15, which was supposed to take 45 minutes to prepare. We patiently waited, but by 7:50, I started to wonder where it was and reached out to the restaurant. The receptionist informed me that it had already been delivered—this was not the case. The pizza finally arrived at 8:10, an additional hour and ten minutes after the initial estimated time. Updated 8/15/23 Ordered a cheesesteak and meat was dry. Not ordering one from here again. I live in Philly, so no need to anyway. Came here on 8/11 to order a buffalo chicken cheesesteak and the roll was cut horrendously (see pic). My 9-year-old can cut better. Definitely was missing some meat for $15! Prices have definitely gone up over these years- Spent close to $80 for my wife, daughter, and myself. And that's with two waters! One of the best places to get a cheesesteak outside of Philly. Service has always been great and fast. We used to drive 1.5 hours just to eat here! The buffalo chicken cheesesteak tastes absolutely delicious and is not overwhelming like at other restaurants.
Great place, nice staff, and excellent food. I had their BBQ brisket pizza; with Wilson's secret sauce brisket and it's fantastic. I was totally blown away and easily one of my favorite pizzas of all time. I would give that pizza at least a 9.5. This new menu item was so good that I went back a second time a week later after I discovered it's introduction. I also really loved to see the collaboration of two of my favorite restaurants in the area too (The original Thunderbird Wilson's Secret Sauce).

Right down the street from the Nicholas Smith train and hobby store, we stopped here for lunch. I had a cheese steak hoagie and my husband had a tuna salad sandwich and we shared an order of french fries. The food was great! The food wasn't overly seasoned and it was served hot and the portions were more than generous. Karen, our server, was very nice. Looking forward to a return visit.
I returned after nearly two decades, and it still has incredible cheesesteaks—truly the gold standard. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. The fries are fantastic, the soft drinks are refreshing, and the service is excellent. I always bring visitors here to experience an authentic Philly cheesesteak.
On my way home, I stopped by for the first time and tried the cheese steak, which was delicious! If you appreciate the classic pizza shop atmosphere like I do, you'll really enjoy this place! The service was excellent too!
Best of the Main Line 2023 cheesesteak was disappointing greasy. Caesar salad was OK but light on cheese. Chocolate milkshake was terrific and saved the day
