We rolled into Cle Elum around 3pm this past Friday, with the intentions of going snowmobiling in Salmon La Sac for the weekend. Knowing we wouldn't go snowmobiling that night (for a full ride), we opted to check in to our hotel and meet up with our friends. We had talked about going to nearby Roslyn for dinner, and decided to head over there (a quick 2 mile drive from our motel) for dinner. After asking locals of a decent place to eat, they gave us a few ideas including the Pastime and since we saw Pastime first, that's where we went. The four of us (all legal aged adults, including 2 of us in our 20's/30's, and 2 in their 60's) sat in the bar. Unfortunately, one of the person in their 60's forgot their ID and despite being visibly of legal drinking age, we had to move to the family side of the restaurant. No big deal, mind you. It wasn't too busy and there was plenty of seating. Our server was friendly, and continued serving us despite not being in her section (bar) anymore. Drinks were served promptly, though a little pricey and not strong, but hey, it was still a drink. The menu has an array of typical fare burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, and fried stuff. My husband and I shared an appetizer of jalapeno poppers w/ ranch dip; for dinner, he had the grilled cheese (w/ white cheddar apples) and I had the 1/2 sandwich (BLT), soup (chowder) and green salad. The bacon used in the 1/2 sandwich was AMAZEBALLS, and despite being a 1/2 sandwich, I was comfortably full after my meal. The chowder was not the best version I've ever had, but it definitely seemed to be homemade, and there was an expectable amount of clams in it. Dinner for the two of us ran us about $50, which definitely seemed pricy, but it was good. If we are ever in town again, we may stop here again, but we may not. We'll just see.

We ended up eating at the Pastime twice in one day, just because we liked the food the first time, and didn't see any other options that were jumping out at us. The first visit, we were at a small round table in the bar, and the second time, at one of the outside tables in the beer garden. The table in the bar was just a bit crowded, because we were sitting right in the main traffic area to the restroom. Our server made some great recommendations, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch meals. We had a tough time getting our drinks refreshed, because the server was working between our room and the dining area around the corner. The second visit, we had a tough time finding someone to take our order. While waiting, however, we had a great conversation with one of the locals, all about the area, the mushroom hunting nearby, and the changes around town. It was plenty comfortable out there, and we took our time enjoying the meal. A little bird kept dropping by our table, looking for handouts. The beer selection is decent they had some local selections from the brewery next door, which were refreshing. for a walk in place that you can get seated quickly, this is a sure bet!

This is probably my favorite bar in Roslyn. Friendly bartenders, ping pong table, great beer selection. I reserved the back room for my fiancés surprise birthday party, when I told them how much he loved to play ping pong they even put the ping pong table in the party area for us! It was also great that the room had flat screens to watch the football games on. Not to mention they had an awesome cover band playing Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin and other great classic rock songs. In the summer time they have an outside patio with green grass and shaded tables. Love this place

My husband and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat. I got a grilled cheese, and no, not a kiddy size! The options seemed endless. What kind of bread? Rye. Oh what kind of rye? Cheese? Great, quality food!
