The Plough Trentham

For the appetizer, we ordered the salt and pepper calamari. It was well-cooked, though it lacked seasoning, similar to the main dishes. Fortunately, they provided salt and pepper on the table, allowing us to season to our liking—which we preferred, as everyone’s taste differs. For the main course, I chose the slow-cooked blade steak served with potato mash, mushrooms, peas, and red wine sauce. It was fantastic—delicious classic flavors that I could enjoy weekly without becoming tired of it. The steak was juicy and tender. The other main we shared was the seafood linguine, which was a bit of a mixed bag. It was generous with the seafood, but some of the fish and prawns felt a bit overcooked...

The chicken parfait was simply exquisite; we found ourselves wanting more toasted ciabatta since the serving was quite generous, complemented by delicious caramelized onion jam and a fresh salad. Our lovely host promptly provided more when we asked. Next, we ordered the hanger steak served with frites and salad, topped with béarnaise sauce, classic steak frites style. This restaurant is truly exceptional and easily rivals establishments in Melbourne's CBD.

This is a large historical pub that is open for lunch throughout the week. While the menu isn't extensive, the offerings are quite good. They also have a nice selection of wines. The quality of both the food and service was fantastic. I highly recommend it.

I took my dog there for lunch on Saturday, and the owner, Ruth, even came out to sit with me for a nice chat. I ordered a delicious dish along with a large bottle of Durif. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic!

my wife and went here expected typical pub dishes as in past, but we were disappointed by the little gourmet dishes and the ones about the top prizes. it looks as if many landstubes were going on this way, which is a shame.

The other guys each ordered a steak as well—one chose an eye fillet and the other a porterhouse. P declared it to be the best steak he’s ever had in Victoria, which is quite a compliment considering he eats a lot of steak!

I felt welcomed as soon as I walked in. I had the land duo and would recommend it to anyone. They also have a fantastic wine selection. I will definitely return. – Gary.

trentham is a beautiful country town. the menu at the pflug has a lot of dressing the hut cake was delicious and the kangaro goulash was ok
