Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Really quick service and excellent food too. Really good that they give a discount for blue light card holders which keeps us coming back again and again. We had the posh fish finger sandwich and sweet potato fries, cheese and bacon burger, the gnomes revenge burger which was huge! And the amazing shed burrito with beef which was cooked exactly as we liked it, and had delicious gravy that we all had to dip our chips into! The Sunday roast is lovely as well and we will be back again in March for our second mothers day lunch here
Great old building that’s been converted to this pub so lots of different rooms and doors to various places. Which can be nice if you want a quieter time and get a side room that’s an option if they’re available. It’s table service which was nice, our waitress would did very well and was really polite. The food is good, eaten here a couple of times and it’s a good standard Pizzas are nice and have some decent offers at certain times. Really nice outdoor area which is good in the summer. Great for a late night drink as well but gets busy.
Good venue and decent food. My only gripe is that when I asked a member of staff about the hazyness of my beer (which was your own brew) he said it could be the end of a barrel or a new one just gone in. Sorry not the right reply. When a barrel is changed surely you should pull the new one through to get rid of the dregs not just put it on and let it work itself through. That's what I was taught when i worked in the trade. My second one was far better. Clear and tasted better too.
Popped in on a return journey home to York today. We were greeted straight away by staff and advised it was table service. The food was fab! My husband went for the Shed Burrito which is steak with horse radish sauce wrapped in huge Yorkshire puddings and served with skin-on chips and a bowl of hot gravy! I loved my beef burger but should have opted for my husband’s order. Staff lovely, attentive and quick. Will pop in again for sure.

Had a work get together here today in a private room. Staff were great. Food was served to all of us in good time and we were looked after very well. Big thanks to all including chefs Jake and Paul and a big shout out to the chap taking our drinks orders (sorry didnt get your name) but your service was spot on. Thanks guys
The Sunday roast at this restaurant left a lot to be desired. The pints were not very affordable, and the service was slow. The waitress was not familiar with what bread sauce was. The broccoli was overcooked, the meal was soaked in gravy, and overall it was just mediocre. However, the company was enjoyable.
The food was fantastic. We had to wait a bit because the restaurant was busy, but it was definitely worth it. The staff were cheerful and friendly even though they were very busy. The Yorkshire Black and Blue burger was amazing and the lunchtime bargain deal was a great value.
We attended as a party of 12 for a mix of bottomless brunch and afternoon teas. Great communication before hand. On the day, WOW! The afternoon teas were amazing. Lots of delicious food. Very tentative staff. Marius, fantastic work and thanks for looking after us so well.

The staff here are fantastic. We turned up on Sunday without booking and they accommodated 12 of us for food and drinks even though the pub was very busy. Lovely food and excellent service. Highly recommended
