We were the couple that left this pub after being ignored for half an hour. (See earlier review Girl behind the bar very sour faced and seemed annoyed I was there. Sat with no menu. Felt like an inconvenience having booked a table. Hear other...people asking for drinks/cutlery/to be served etc. eventually we got a menu given to us and had to ask if we could order a drink, not offered. Used their free wifi to book a table at the Chequers down the road where the staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was good. As we left, the couple behind us said they were there having a complimentary meal due to previous bad service. We then cancelled our drinks with the unfriendly girl behind t...

As we were a group of 8 we were asked to pre order our meals for Sunday lunch, which we did. When we sat down they gave us menus we told them we had pre-ordered but the waitress could find no record of it. Could...find the deposit we paid at the same time . We did get all they we ordered and were very good at giving extras like extra bread sauce, tomato sauce .the food was good not sure what the bread sauce was served cold but was tasty. Some thought the chicken portion was on the small side. This where it went downhill. We sat for along time waiting for first course plates to be removed. We asked to order desserts. Said they would be back. We waited and waited. Asked again and waited again....

So we booked a table for 7pm Saturday 5th march. On arrival the girl behind the bar told us they was short staffed, to which I answered that’s fine most places are. She said take a seat and I’ll get you a drink when I...have dealt with all the orders from the restaurant. We waited 20 mins and watched a few people get served at the bar before us. We watched a couple leave saying it’s taking too long. Still ok with waiting as they was struggling. Heard one of the girls say to another ‘ If people want to get (swear word)stroppy they can’ that’s not something that should be heard from the other side of the bar. After half an hour we walked out to try and find somewhere else to eat on a sat night...

I don't like to give bad reviews, but to this occasion it could be useful feedback to an otherwise loved pub and restaurant. four of us visited the lion on the weekend of the bank with the view of the drinks in the courtyard. What makes the best of the beautiful weather, and perhaps a little later to eat. Unfortunately we discovered that the pub has made the bizarre decision to go cashless! we are all in our 30s and understand how our data, especially from banks, are passed on to third-party data companies that affect everything from the cost of insurance to hypotheken. in such a networked world, we would rather keep our free time expenditure private. After a drink we cut our afternoon in we... Réservez une table maintenant

My friends and I, who have been friends for 50 years since school, dine regularly at The Lion. The restaurant is conveniently located in a central area with good parking options for those driving, and one of us even takes the train from Bicester Village. We enjoy The Lion because it is a cozy pub with delicious food and friendly staff. It's important to us to have a comfortable place to chat and enjoy good food in a relaxed atmosphere. A special shoutout to George, our server, who took great care of us when we visited last Saturday. The service was excellent, meeting all of our needs without being intrusive. We will definitely be back.

The service at this restaurant was incredible from the moment we walked in. The dining area was spotless and very clean, with fresh, crisp linens and a pleasant scent that highlighted their commitment to cleanliness. The staff were all extremely friendly and eager to assist in any way possible. Once we placed our order, the service was quick and efficient, and the food was delicious and flavorful. The lovely view of the garden added to the overall pleasant dining experience. The breakfast was just as impressive as dinner, and the staff were exceptionally lovely. I highly recommend The Lion without hesitation.

Mothering Sunday is always busy yes? So you would think everywhere would be geared up for this, especially for a table booked at 4pm when the main lunchtime rush would be tapering off. Not the case I am afraid, 2.5 hours for 2 mediocre, highly...priced courses. Starter portions were very small and I am sure these used to come with a side salad? Almost £20 for a burger which leaves a pool of grease on the plate and roast potatoes which could have done with another 20 minutes in the oven. Had to ask four times for some water and no more drinks were offered after the initial service. Many better places locally.

My wife, our dog, and I have visited this restaurant multiple times in the past year. We have consistently enjoyed the delicious food and friendly service. We typically opt for a room overlooking the peaceful back garden, which is modern and well-appointed. We wish we could visit more frequently, as we live in Bicester, but unfortunately we are unable to secure a regular rate. Overall, it is a pleasant place to stay with tasty food, welcoming staff, and a tranquil atmosphere. Réservez une table maintenant
