Took my partners elderly parents for afternoon tea at a head. Restaurant was mainly empty bar one table at opposite end to use. Plenty of tables so they put us on a table with two sofa type benches near the door which were a...struggle for an and year old to slide along on. Too far from table so had to shove each one forward. They could of easily put us on a table in the window with proper chairs. Food was lovely , but it was sweet and savoury . Too much sweet stuff , don't need scones each. My husband and I both had upset stomachs which resulted in vomiting on two separate occasions. Menu had a poor choice of options.. No information given when serving food i,e the Cheese Platter. Fish and chips soggy. The dome that we paid an extra was disappointing as I had been ill the night before after eating a meal in the restaurant. I am allergic to goats cheese and I was informed that they were very careful with my food and could not understand why I was ill. I think many of the later reviews of Olio are overly critical. We sat outside at Olio and really appreciated the thought that had gone into the Covid secure space parasols, heaters, dining chairs, lounge chairs etc. There were plenty of attentive waiting staff...who picked up on little details like bringing water bowls for dogs. We shared three small plates to start, all of which were excellent. We liked that the salt and pepper squid was light and not drowning in batter. Dropped in on the off chance of lunch. Dining room very interesting decor and lighting. Had the squid which was perfectly cooked then a large chicken salad. This was one of the nicest salads I have had with lots of different textures and flavours, it...was a good size but worth spending a lot of time enjoying every mouthful. Very interesting outside space available for nicer weather. Service very good from a very young team.
Food at Olio is out of this world. We were lucky enough to dine here a couple of times during our stay at Homewood. Afternoon tea was delicious, the savoury and sweet treats were gorgeous, the best afternoon I have ever had! Dinner at Olio...did not disappoint, the choices were great, the food was divine, so fresh and flavourful, compliments to the chefs! I would recommend, we will be back!
The food we ordered in the restaurant was well-prepared but the menu reflected the eclectic deco and lacked cohesion serving a mixture of tapas, small plates, robata' and hearty salads', all of which was more fitting for a gastro-pub. We found it difficult choosing and...it was not a menu I would want to go back to. The wine list and bar were both limited. Good service.
Amazing food attention to detail great service. We dined in the outside doom and it was a great evening the food was top standard and the starter we all agreed was the best ever! With a coeliac guest and a diary free guest...everything was spot on and never too much trouble. Great chef and great service. A lovely experience thank you
