I attend the ship on a quiet Wednesday to meet my family including my sister and her new born (3 weeks old). When I arrived I asked my brother in law to come outside and help me support my gran (90 years old) to get in to her wheelchair so she could come in to the pub. Had high hopes for here but didn’t have the best experience unfortunately. Had to order my drink 3 times, granted it was a busy Sunday afternoon but 3 times is a little excessive. There was 3 pieces of beef in my steak pie, it was mainly mushroom. For £18.50 I didn’t think this was good value. It tasted nice though. My partner got a trio of meats Sunday dinner, but didn’t feel the amount of meat warranted the £24 price tag. The slice of gammon he received resembled a piece of bacon. This charming pub by the canal offers a warm welcome to both muddy paws and dirty boots. The staff are all friendly and eager to assist. There's a good selection of beers available, and the menu looks intriguing, although we didn't dine here.

This is a great country pub with a nice variety of real ales at reasonable prices. The food is tasty, though a bit pricey. Overall, I would rate the service and atmosphere both at 4 out of 5.
