I have called into a few pubs in Gloucester over the years, but this is my first visit to this venue. The décor looks pretty smart with a few screens dotted around the premises. The live music adds to the atmosphere, even though its loudness can drown out the conversation. It 's a good thing there 's good outdoor area if you need some quiet space. The beer is very reasonably priced (slightly cheaper than my 'regular ' venues). There is a friendly atmosphere (we had a couple of spontaneous conversation) it 's well worth paying a visit if you find yourself in the centre of Gloucester.
Had a great time at The Sword Inn. A quick visit from London on a lazy Sunday afternoon friendly staff and extremely inexpensive drinks (did a double take on how cheap)! We were happy to stay for a while. Plenty of TVs to watch all sports on ... great music. The locals were super friendly and kind exchanged great stories would definitely recommend!
Staying in Gloucester and needed somewhere to watch the game. Plenty of screens and both games (Arsenal and Chelsea Europa League) were being shown in different areas. No food available. But decent beer. Don't expect too much; this was very much a basic pub experience but we were made welcome enough.
Nice pub apart from having to listen to bar staff having argument with someone on phone swearing aggressive conversation on phone while serving behind bar. Totally unacceptable behaviour of a member of staff to behave in that way. Not something I want yo listen to when out or being served.

What can I say...this is a new venue to this city. Staff excellent. Clean and tidy compared to a few years ago. An actual local pub and not a chain pub. We will definitely be visiting again. And telling friends. Made to feel so welcome.
This pub has been refurbished very nicely. It now has large tv screens and cheap beer. But this is not the venue to meet friends if you want to be able to chat as the music is far too loud even during the day.
Really had been looking forward to visiting this hostellery. Looks marvellous and quaint from the outside. Unfortunately it’s closed altogether and no sign or notice when or if it is going to reopen
We went for a day out in Gloucester &popped into this bar. We were met with a friendly atmosphere &the greeter couldn't have been nicer. It's ideal to go to with friends or on your own for a drink.
